The first song is known for having lower SQ than the rest of the album, it's in the mix. Like you said it noticeably 'opens up' at a certain point and never looks back.

@@Matasky2010 I wonder if it’s intentional. To let the listener take the journey. It’s a pretty neat experience now when I know. Just like David is opening up his heart and soul the music does too.

I have a copy of the 1971 (uk) Atlantic records payed £30 for it just before the covid lockdowns it definitely help with that long hot summer nights. Have to say its probably one of the best sounding recirds i own.

@@sirrantsalotschitchat8914 they did good during the recording. Man it’s a good sounding record. And the music…. Just magic

I was given this album in 1972 by a large black cross dresser from the service, he was a huge dude and looked like a fool playing dress up but god damn he had good taste in music

This is also one of my favorite albums ever, I just discovered it within the last couple years. It's such a uniquely mind-blowing experience. I think the Jerry Garcia influence is a huge factor as I'm also a big Dead fan. My problem is I have the Classic Records 33rpm and the Mofi 45rpm already...resisting this AP release has been very difficult. This is one of those albums I get random cravings for.

@@Matasky2010 I can’t imagine that they sound much better or worse so I’m pretty sure you are set brother. If I had an audiophile version of it I would not get this new one. Amazing record!

You can’t go wrong with any of the artists who recorded at Wally Heider studios!

@@GlassOrchidAftermath I have to check out which ones that recorded there. Thanks for pointing that out.

check the Graham Nash/David Crosby record from 1972 almost as good and also with Jerrry Garcia and the Dead

@@toshfriborg4964 I will. I have had many of the records that came after. In different constellations but never really gave them the proper listen.

IICORMN is a top ten album for me. I've had it since the original release. I've got 3 US first pressings, and the recent MoFi is my favorite issue, both LP and SACD. Totally unique record. I agree that Music Is Love is sonically weak compared to the rest.
