This made me feel old because I walked to school with a tape player on my hip listening to my music. LOL!

That’s pretty dope, using samples from cassettes on a Walkman from the ancient 1900’s.

Wait until you get fed up with the hiss, the crosstalk and the pinch roller eats your tape right in the middle of your favorite song.

You could record out of the headphone output, then you would get the warmth of the tape itself, without losing all your bass frequencies like the built in speaker.

I connected the RCA cables into the Headphone output to grab the sample. I hope I made that clear in the video. Thanks for watching by the way 🙏🏽

@@s0lituneyou should also buy a few blank tapes and re-record onto a blank tape then record back into the MPC

Right? There’s something about that raw, gritty sound that just can’t be replicated digitally! Glad you’re feeling the vibe! Thanks for tuning in 🫡

In 2024, one of the main reasons to sample from cassette is due to its Lo-Fi quality.

An advice from someone who *suffered* compact cassettes because there was no other option: If all of you want to still love cassettes up to your 50s, don’t listen to them more than twice a week.

@@s0litune In case its interesting, I’ll share a tip from a vid on the KO2 I saw recently for getting low fi samples. The guy would sample really pitched up or sped up sounds and then drop them down a few octaves and they were really gritty and lo fi but beautiful. Especially just a synth note recorded in the upper octaves and pitched down then played as a chord just sounded amazing. Works great for loops as well, kind of mimicking the old SP1200 technique.
