Our prehistory month goes further back to the time of Neanderthals. A clan on the search for a new home encounter a lone, injured Cro-Magnon girl. They take her in to raise as part of the clan, but as she grows her intelligence and aptitude takes its toll on the equilibrium of the group.
Starring Daryl Hannah, a number of well-known Hollywood names were involved behind the camera but it didn't gel with audiences at the time, we see how it fares 35 years on.

It won't blow your mind but I'd say it's worth checking out, certainly not as bad as some reviews suggest. ~ S

That really is an incredible piece artwork, the poster for '... Cave Bear', wow. Who's is it? Y'know, I've seen this image a few times over the years and never knew it was the poster for this movie. One could just sit back and appreciate that for a couple of hours, maybe watch the film some other time. I wonder, is it actually Darryl Hannah or the lead guitarist from Poison? 😄 (haha, that's so funny with recognizing Bart the bear 😆).

Wow, it could well be the guitarist from Poison 😂 it is a great poster though, very striking image, even though it’s kind of referencing quite a minor part of the movie. Don’t know who created it but it somehow feels quite modern for an 80s movie poster ~ J.

@@cineXplorers I've been having a look online about who may have created the original concept work for the poster and the name Vic Fair has come up a couple of times. I've just been trying ascertain whether he is the actual artist behind it and found an extensive interview with him on a website called Film On Paper and it looks like he is the guy. He's done incredible work over the years and has had an extensive career; particularly his design for The Emerald Forest. You can see some characteristic similarities when you look at that then Clan of the Cave Bear. The interview looks very interesting, I'd recommend it 👌☺️

What a great website find, I shall spend some time there. Vic Fair is not actually mentioned as designer on the Clan poster, it just says unknown but I’ve found the interview so shall give that a read. Looks like he designed a number of great British film posters too, thanks again for that 👍🏻 ~ J.

@@cineXplorers Ahh, my pleasure J, I'm glad you've had a chance to check it out. His body of work is so impressive isn't it? There are a number of cult classic and iconic films he's created such vivid and visceral representations for. Particularly Theatre of Blood I noticed, I remember that being a favourite of yours. What I've noticed with a couple of titles he's worked on, my instinctive reaction, is that the poster's graphics are so enticing, the worlds purveyed within the images filled with such promise, intrigue and mystery that it almost feels like one should stop there... Not actually watch the film it's advertising! haha, as there's such subconscious potency to the illustrations created one could just admire the image and concoct ones own narrative... Well, maybe that's stretching it a bit haha, but sometimes the films don't always live up to the promise of such great artwork. Having said that, I was thinking of Movie posters (and great movies they're advertising) that have really stuck with me over the years and one that comes instantly to mind is the Day Of The Dead promotional poster, the one that includes the banner wording 'First There Was Night... Then There was Dawn...' and then you have the main event, Day Of The Dead. It's quite a simple poster but very effective and memorable (as was Dawn Of The Dead). Anyway, keep up the stellar work guys, look forward to the next episode 👍😉

I really enjoyed the book and the movie wasn't awful, it's no Watership Down level of adaptation. But this is a thick ass book!! Only so much you can put onscreen, also as much as I hate to throw around the term 'Mary Sue' ... yeah, Ayla was the OG in the book, kept waiting for her to invent the wheel 😃 Great review guys.

I saw this when I was a kid and I don't remember the narrator. Are there different cuts?
@cineXplorers
@cineXplorers 3 жыл бұрын
Not aware of any different cuts. The narration only pops up sporadically and doesn't last very long when it does. It basically gives a bit more detail on key events, for example when Ayla is sent away for using the sling. ~ S
