There's a huge block of people, the vast majority of people, who are all about the same level of intelligence, then you've got a few outliers who are incredibly smart and a few outliers who are incredibly stupid. The block in the middle, the average person, well they tend to think they're smarter than the average when they're really not. Anyway I like George carlin but it seems people take that joke very seriously and think that's how intelligence is actually distributed.
@HippopotamusPencil4 жыл бұрын
@@duffman18 Taking the joke seriously isn't really an observation about the distribution of intelligence. It is trivially true that half the people are dumber than the average (which is the joke), so the idea is that when we talk about half the people being dumber than the average we are talking about the exact average not the block in the middle. Half of all people really are smarter (or dumber) than the average person, just not by much. In reality most people are roughly as dumb as the average person, which is far more horrifying.

I think Eli Roth has a similar problem as Micheal Bay has: he has this little frat boy goblin in his brain that eats all his ideas and then poops them out so even the good ideas are now covered in shit. When you listen to Roth talk about horror films and their meaning and artistic merit it's like listening to a genuine scholar on the subject and you can sense his love for it. His ideas, at its core, are all solid and great ideas for films but then they get eaten by that little frat boy goblin and pooped out and Eli forgets how human beings talk, and act, and genuinely behave. Jay mentioned that blonde actor getting glass in his eye. I just watched some clips and there's one were he breaks the window on their car as patient zero is trying to steal it. When he breaks it, he falls backwards and shouts: "It's in my fucking eye!" Reckon that was the accident and Eli Roth kept it in?

20:39 Yes, they were kicked out of North Carolina by the union. If I remember it right, they basically had a weekend to finish a shoot that was supposed to go on for a few more weeks. David Lynch told his former asst. Eli to follow wherever the movie took him, or something like that, which kind of explains the entire last 1/3 of the film

The ending kind of makes sense how he got there. In the car you can hear boy meets world gurgling. Deputy Winston is saying he just needs to party or whatever and then boy meets world asks him for water. Thats when he says the line "i dont have any water, only a 40" or however he said it. So he was responding to boy meets world asking for water. So then Deputy says don't worry Ill get you water... So he just dragged him down to the water so he can go party or whatever.

But really that just makes the movie better. If me and my friends decided to meet up and a few days into hanging out it turns out one carried the COVID-19 and any of us might be infected we wouldn't turn on each other nor would we be afraid our mate would kill us because he doesn't have rabies, a zombie virus or is a thing.
