He didn’t have much A pair of hard working hands Everything that I needed I got it from the old man With a nine second dream He drove the Redlight Bandit And the grease on his hands Was the way he commanded And the life he demanded It kept us all in a struggle When he ruled with his fist It kept us all out of trouble Even though he would leave He wore his heart on his sleeve And by the way that he walked He taught me how to believe Old man look at my life Take a look, take a look Old man look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Old man, old man take a look at my life Take a look, take a look Old man, old man take a look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Growin’ up at the track He had a reason for being fast His heart felt like breaking He’d look right up at the ceiling and Start again, never breathe a word of his loss Cause it’s not about winning It’s the rivers you cross And the pain that you feel Could be the fuel that you use And if you’re in need of direction Be it the path that you choose My old man is a legend He cast a shadow so great I think of how he is watchin’ With every move that I make Old man look at my life Take a look, take a look Old man look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Old man, old man take a look at my life Take a look, take a look Old man, old man take a look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Now there’s no slowin’ down There’s only settin’ the pace No more dreams to be stolen Just the right ones to chase You’ve been through the worst Now you know who to trust Leave them something behind Before the ashes and dust Old man look at my life Old man look at my life Old man, old man take a look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Old man, old man take a look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Old man, old man take a look at my life Take a look, take a look Old man, old man take a look at my life cause I’m a lot like you Old man, old man take a look at my life Take a look, take a look Old man, old man take a look at my life cause I’m a lot like you

My dad died in 2014. I had just lost my daughter. The day before he passed, we took our bikes and had a cruise to get the wind blow through us. When things went bad he always found ways to show that he related to me and my issue, but knew he would always be there for me. Now that he has passed, I don't know if I could ever be a fraction of the man he was, but know that I still do my best to make him.proud of me.

I never heard this song ever played (in Houston) I was listening to a vinnie paz/ Prozak station on pandora, and this played. It hooked me. Hits hard, hits home, it's got a "tactile" sense to it, it grooves, and you feel the weight and texture of the music, and lyrics. Like a fucking blanket, draped and heavy, full of old scars, and stains, but it's beautiful, and has memory.

@eda.170011 жыл бұрын
Neal Cox Really? Where'd that even come from haha. Why am I a pathetic sap? I talked down to someone who deserved it. So what? I'm finished with it now so I don't see any problems. Really though... What the Hell did girls have to do with any of that? And you really are in no place to judge me because you don't actually know me. In reality I am probably more respectful to women than a majority of the guys my age and I'm also loyal to anyone who is decent enough to earn my respect. Try getting to know someone first. You might just have a different opinion of them. G'night man.

Thank you Dad for teaching me, the importance of making your word matter and try best to always keep your word as real as possible with the amount of knowledge you have at the time, and man enough to admit your wrongs, and brave enough to see through the BS, call it out if necessary, and in the end let God take care of fools, because you have children who love you, just as you loved me growing up. And Dad I found your journals so you would forget about me, and along with the help of your Grandchildren, even a ex son in law, who still needed a Dad to look up too, and a talk from someone who you must have respected there words, because before you went home to Heaven this last year, they brought you back to me, so I could tell I'm proud to have you as my Dad, and we should them that with forgiveness and trying to do the things, Love and Faith will always find its way back to you, with faith as little as mustard seed, God knows our hearts, and he knew he had a son he could be of in you, Dad. RIP please take care of your Grandson for me up in Heaven until we meet Again. Thank you for being my BFF and my Dad. You shall missed but never forgotten. Love always your Daughter

They knocked this song out of the park, great job RLKs! Like so many we all have our Dad's in us that seems to come out in us the older we get like it or not. I turn into my Dad more everyday. On behalf of all the kids that had great Dad's or step Dad's I want to say Thanks we love and miss you. You wasn't just teaching us about life , you was making great memories for us and you knew this as your Dad did for you. ❤ And I do for mine. Thanks Dad's of the world!!

I like it. But don't think its better or original. Just a good remix. There are a few songs that the sequel was better. Pressure has been done by a few. This songs good but doesn't add to the original.

You can do everything right because of the example you were given. Work hard, be a solid citizen, raise your kids to be fine adults, married for 34 years, I could go on. But with all that said, I still can't help thinking If I could only be half the man my Dad was....

I was real skeptical at first when my friend told me about the "new' version of "Old Man"...to be honest, I'm not into "new" music because alot of it is garbage, (no offense intended)...but I like the song. It may be quite different from the original, but I think it carries the same message...I like it.
