I can see why Mattel deleted the wing on later issues as it really does not add to the model. That being said the body paint is just perfect! It looks absolutely flawless. Painting the body silver, before the color coat, really did improve the overall hue and shine. I could not believe how bad the chassis was but it looks great now. Thanks for sharing this tutorial as it brings back a lot of memories.

Excellent job as always. Interesting to hear all the little decisions that go into one of your restorations. I had not seen one of these cars with the swingin' wing. I was expecting something like a big spoiler, like the aftermarket kits you see on Hondas. This was basically a canopy tent affixed to an otherwise sleek, modern design. I think even the original designer had regrets once the car was in production!

Man that is beautiful! The only things I could think you could add to your set up that would help… And ultrasonic cleaner… And some water thin Cyanoacrylate. The water thin glue is literally water thin… And if it’s dropped on a crack with the tip of the razor blade or something it will fill it in and almost completely disappear. Then you can do your sanding and polishing those cracks will be almost invisible! I use that in my shop a lot, to the point where I order it by the quart… Yes super by the quart! LOL also a pressure pot or vacuum chamber similar to what they used to stabilize wood is great. I use it on stabilizing vintage plastic, or to fix cracked pick guards on the tiles that are cracked all to pieces, pieces of elephant ivory that are cracked overtime, or even pieces of wood that needs to be stabilized with acrylic. It’s an interesting process and can be used to stabilize and solidify cracked and falling apart pieces. Love your channel! Not really into cars although I do have a few boxes of redlines I was left by my grandfather… However a lot of your processes are similar to mine it’s enjoyable watching someone else. And learning
