Even though I've never driven or owned one, I keep coming back to this car. I live in an area where stick shift doesn't make sense, yet I keep looking at the car. Currently have an Elantra N on lease, but really hard to stay with this car when it's clear the Honda will hold it's value more and probably last longer.
@grahmdoughty2 ай бұрын
Fun depends on what you want in a car and also the roads/weather where you live. I've owned both an 8Y RS3 and FL5 Type R and for me the RS3 is more fun more of the time. The engine is special at any speed, and while the Type R's chassis is superior you don't really get to experience that unless you're pushing the car 7/10 or above. And if there's any rain you might as well be driving a base Civic. The RS3 on the other hand is quite a bit of fun in the rain and snow - and fun to push around the track, as long as you replace the garbage stock Pirellis. But if you live somewhere sunny/dry and track your car a lot then I can see the case for FL5 - just spend some of the 10K you saved sorting out the cooling.
@goldenboy8249Ай бұрын
I was going to say just this! I've driven the 8Y and it's hard to imagine the type r being the "obvious option". I think if the 8Y came in hatch format, there really wouldn't be another choice for me on the market. That car is truly special.

Nice video but I disagree with the Total number of FK8 Limited. The total number was 1.020. 600 were for the US market. And VTEC is not activated between 6.000 and 7.000 rpm on the K20C1 engine. VTEC works the other way round and helps with turbo lag. It is activated below 2.500 rpm. Above the turbo is spooling there is no need to change the valve lift above 2.500 rpm!

Without a NA engine, this is no budget GT3 or GT3RS. Also why spend the first 4 mins talking about the Type R history and not the FL5 itself? Why omit the FD2 Type R? Why include a 1 min sponsor in such a short video talking about the car? I laughed when he said you get VTEC between 6000 and 7000 RPM. Its more like 3400 RPM but don’t expect it to hit like a B-series or K20. you can’t really feel it change over but it helps with the breathing of the engine. Also its VTEC only on the exhaust cam...not the intake cam like the NA VTEC. This car has overheating issues on the Ring as shown by Misha Charoudin so its no budget GT3 RS which can run the Ring without issues.

Also the fk8 type r was as quick as a m2 comp costing twice the price having 2 doors not 4 like the civic and having over 100 more hp. Crazy. Crazy how bad bmw is. And how good the type r is.
