This game looks like a childs dream. The Lava tokens are thw most brilliant part for me. Never thought of a mechanic like that.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring7 ай бұрын
The lava is a really fun idea, and because the lava is placed by the player who drew the card, it can get quite chaotic as the lava branches off into different directions based on what each player is trying to achieve with it. Really great stuff, and shows how good games aimed at children can be.

My mother found me a new copy for $2 Australian, and it is in great condition. It's only missing one of the beige explorers. I loaned it to the game library of a convention I was running before covid and it was one of the most popular games being played by people that year. That and Dungeon. I was considering making a big diorama style board for the game as a con centrepiece, but then covid hit and the con died.

Hey, I bought a copy of this game on Ebay a couple of years ago, and have recently started playing it with my 8 year old son. We both enjoy the game, but totally agree that gameplay can be slow with just 2 players. We've begun developing our own set of house rules which involves playing with a reduced deck of game cards, and also modified rules about surviving attacks by the T-rex's & Pteranodon. We've still to game-test the new rules, but I reckon they'll make it much of a more fast flowing game, with a greater role play element and more unpredictability. Will keep you informed of how this works out if you would like? I've also recently purchased used copies of the '89 edition of HeroQuest (my favourite also), and Space Crusade (never owned it during childhood) after subscribing to your channel last month. Really enjoying the channel, best regards from Scotland. 🏴👍

Interesting how you lay down the lava. When we played it as children each piece of lava had to connect to the previous piece making unbroken streams.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring7 ай бұрын
Each piece of lava has to be placed next to at least one piece that is already in play. In this way there will be no breaks in the lava, but you aren't restricted to placing the lava in streams either. There is a diagram in the rules showing that the three you place at the same time once you reach the valley floor don't have to connect to each other, they just have to connect to at least one other piece of lava anywhere on the board.
@IsmaeeldeSilva7 ай бұрын
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring interesting although less aesthetically pleasing. The other thing i remember was losing T Rexes and having to substitute in some from my dinosaur collection. Good times! As my Mum rarely gets rid of such things, hopefully I can dig it out to play with my children. They wil doubtless highlight many other rules we overlooked as children!

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I usually played the blue knight. I'm a red player normally, but my sister always wanted to play the red piece in this game, and she was very much a, "give me that one or I won't play!" sort of person.
