Always Board Never Boring goes through a quick tutorial on painting the three force fields that game in the Masters of the Universe Wave One expansion for MotU Battleground from Archon Studios. Ha. Yeah, I would have preferred the second wave of character expansions before the new terrain set, but I'm sure I will pick it up anyway. I'm hoping they are going to do something completely different to the ruins to give the game a different feel - maybe a marshland or forest with less scalable terrain and more difficult terrain.

Yeah I'm so going to modify your method using the closest paints I have in my collection when I paint my sets. Speaking of they replied and said stock is delayed due to the fires etc ravaging Europe currently.

Thanks. I pretty much have all the (pre-update) GW Shades and a range of Army Painter tones, so was a bit spoiled for choice when it came to the swirly-whirlies. I thought purple and blue would look good on them too. I'm glad to hear you got a response from your supplier. Bit weird considering they said they had the stock when you ordered, but at least you know what's going on now.

Looks great. I always seem to say that, but what else can you really say? It's a bit like congratulations comments isn't it. I always use some bright yellow drybrushed onto sand or sandstone as a final step even when it's on historical bases. It adds that little bit that makes it seem to shine without getting into adding pin gloss sand effects, which is far more work than mini bases need. It makes everything seem to look just right.

I think this video shows a bit better what I’m trying to go for with this stuff - not really a recreation of the Filmation look, but going for bright, bold, colours with darker lining to look like cartoony toys. I’m trying to recall times I’ve had to paint sand bases. I think the only other time was for the Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb miniatures. I’ll have to check back and see what colours I used there. These MotU pieces definitely needed that brighter yellow to finish them off.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I did loads of sand with my North Africa WWII stuff and the Gorkamorka stuff. Most of the terrain was designed to sort of work in both, with the exception of buildings and specifically Orky things. You just have to overlook that many boulders and rock outcrops in Africa seem to have weird mushrooms growing in their shady areas. Must be German mad scientists. I am now doing more stuff in 15mm for NA in Flames of War, but opted to mostly go for the Battlefield in Box prepainted stuff and touch it up a bit. I like how durable much of their stuff is. I was going to grab the Aeronautica Hersey book this weekend but GW being GW , it sold out in 11 minutes and was direct order only. I'm not sure why they even bother anymore or why I do.

@@johnmiddleton4291 GW seem perpetually amazed people want to buy their stuff. It’s stupid. I bet the Cursed City expansions sell out in seconds and Lost Relics is on preorder in America but there’s still no mention of it getting a UK release.

@@johnmiddleton4291 Thanks. Game really struggled to stock the last release of them so my feeling is they won’t bother this time. GW are going through a very annoying phase right now. I hope they turn it around, because it’s nothing but frustration for customers.
