Ben, almost done with de-chroming my Mini just the Beltline (Glossy as well) so thanks for sharing this video.

Ben I’m surprised you have not put the JCW Pro front and rear side splitters on your mini. It’s very easy to do and the results look amazing compared to the standard side splitters. Killallchrome are doing a great deal on some after market front and rears at the moment. You should check them out. Also would make a great video for your KZbin channel. I’ve done my JCW and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Cheers Neil

Hey Neil! I already have the front installed on my Cooper S bumper! It definitely changes the look drastically and I couldn’t be happier!

@@BenRolfe oops yes I have just seen the front ones on your mini, glad you like them. Another idea which I also did was aftermarket exhaust tips, if you go on Aliexpress you can get them at least 1/2 the price it would cost you to get them from places in the UK and only take a couple of weeks to arrive. Cheers Neil

@@BenRolfe Hey Ben I thought you might like this link for Mini Cooper carbon fibre exhaust tip covers on Aliexpress www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001298573154.html. Killallchrome charge £150 for two, where as you can get two shipped from this seller for less than £60 no custom charges to pay. Cheers Neil

@@BenRolfe and here’s a link for the fins to stick onto the back of your roof spoiler www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002072241692.html. Once again you can get them in fake carbon fibre. I have bought both the spoiler fins and exhaust tips and they look great. Best of all they cost a fraction for the same items being sold on UK mini accessories websites such as killallchrome etc. Cheers Neil

Ben just a quick question your S badge on your upper front grille where did you get the stickers to cover the standard red S colour again? Cheers
@BenRolfe3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason! I got it as a cover from SCP Automotive, the original creators of the dechromed S badge cover. They do the cover along with the S colour of your choice or they also so just an S decal if you want to keep the chrome. Use code BEN10 for 10% off 😁 scpautomotive.co.uk/products/mini-cooper-s-front-grille-badge-cover-v2?variant=39659882184887

Hey Ben, what are you using to clean the belt line? Thanks.
@BenRolfe3 жыл бұрын
Hey Evan! I began with The Detail Kitchens Tar Tar Sauce which is a sticky stuff and tar remover and then after I used The Detail Kitchens Secret Ingredient to strip back any surface contaminants left over such as Tar Tar Sauce residue, oils and waxes to leave the surface contaminant free ready for the belt line. You can use code BEN10 for 10% off The Detail Kitchen products.

Just some insights: A lot of vinyl wrap installers and retailers who apply ceramic coatings tend to believe that IPA or isopropyl alcohol will remove invisible residue, old wax, etc. It’s not exactly the best choice if you’re seeking a wrap or coating that will endure for quite sometime. Many of the “surface prep” products are even worse and your paying a lot of money for nothing special. Try and leave a piece of wax in IPA. It remains a piece of wax. Your best prep product is body shop wax and grease remover. You need to wear a mask, but your surface will indeed be clean. All of these surfaces where you’re applying any coating or wrap will benefit from using the right prep. It’s probably the most important component of the install.

I'd redo it too if I seen that much chrome showing. Just gotta line it up straight and tuck it close to the top edge as possible. Ease off on the heat gun or else it'll shrink too much... As for the front trim piece around the hood, just remove it off the car and do it. Good job. Only takes a minute or to remove it.

Tried another place and they said the rubber is glued on and cannot be wrapped over. Is my newer model sport different than yours? Doesn’t seem like I can fold over

Nice one, done it already in my car. Now, you just need to tint your windows and it would change a lot, trust me, also order some rally led lights from Amazon and believe me, it would change the entire look on your car. Nice videos keep it going

With the majority of insurance providers the premium won’t change for aesthetic modifications such as a dechrome. Some good companies to check out are Green Light, Keith Michaels and Adrian Flux.
