To me, the main issue is the chemicals: the fake could cause several health problems, since no one knows what it is, who produces it et . They don't follow IFRA, nor anything. Even if they smell similar, the chemicals could cause health problems. Great video, though.

I just had a look at my bottle. The batch code is printed horizontally; writing and the font on the bottle are not prominent at all, almost flat, very faint. And I found the bottle can hardly be seen through even with a torchlight behind. I had to do it in the darkroom. But I believe it is a real bottle as I bought it from a legitimate local retailer. Cap is heavy as hell and matches the appearance from the real bottle in the video. Just to put it here so that people know there could be a variation in terms of the appearance of the bottle, mostly due to manufactural variations.

When you finish a bottle of fragrance break it and throw it away if you don't want to keep it. Please don't sell it. Throwing it away deprives someone selling crap in that bottle and duping someone. Today is December 12,2022 and I JUST found this video. I am only here because i just purchased 3 PdM frags from the Jomashop sell off. Another KZbinr recommended the sale, it was truly too good to be true. I purchased Initios Rehab from them, it was 100% legitimate and I took a chance with PdM. I purchased Pegasus, Herod and Layton. I don’t know, maybe paranoia coupled with buyer’s remorse. The cap feels heavy, like a PdM would. The bottle has the sharp crease on its side, nothing from the video stands out as a fake or replica. The scent is strong, sitting here with a stop watch and constant whiffs to check the strength. Seriously hoping i didn’t get bamboozled.

8:23 Got me a bit worried now, about the bottle of Layton I bought last week. As soon as I took it out of the box I was struck by how poorly embossed the lettering was, in both the shield, and even worse on the main lettering near the bottom-front. It's almost flat at the "...MS De M" and the "Paris" below that. The bottle cap is heavy, solid metal, but the inside doesn't look like yours, and the tiny vapouriser hole is white. The juice itself certainly seems genuine. Oily on the skin, smells fantastic, and lasts hours.

I'm sure there are convincing fakes but bottom line is if it's a niche fragrance like Creed or Roja or PD just remember..if the quality is so good it blows you away then it's real. If it doesn't smell super expensive it's fake. Lol. Not the same with designer frags though.

I got scammed once buying Paco Rabanne One Million Prive, the bottle actually had visible glue where the front was attached. I tried to return it and the ebay seller was no longer listed. Very informative..thank you. There is something in common in fake perfumes. The people who make them; they do it only for one reason: making more money. So if they want to make money, they must choose a popular perfume that most people like so much, like aventus, black afgano, suavage and... so my point is: if you intend to buy perfumes like i mentioned above..you must be extra careful and also buy it from a reliable website or boutique. Thank you again 🌸

Steve I purchased a Herod from Notino Germany. I believe it's original, even though the lot number appears parallel at the bottom. You might want to check with PdM, orientation of that printing might not have anything to do with it being original vs. fake. That would be quite easy for the fakers to replicate well after all. My bottle is 75 ml though. In any case lot # on mine is 0300035, and I'm quite disappointed with the longevity. After 2+ hours it's way too close to the skin, pretty much gone. I double checked spraying from a bottle in a local store onto a paper strip, it's the exact same scent, and the same short disappointing longevity.

When I knew less, I bought a fake Oud Palao by Dyptique. I realized it was going to be fake because it was coming from Russia. So I ordered another one (for $99) on Ebay that WAS legit. Thanks for the comparison, though I have to say that I just recently purchased Nisean on Notino (Germany) and everything seems to be original, but the relief on the bottle isn't as clear as on my bottle of Percival. I don't think it's a fake, but it seems plausible that older bottles weren't made with the same precision as newer ones. (Even though I had purchased Percival before Nisean it has a much higher batch code and must be newer.) It would be helpful to know, if other people can draw the same comparison.

I just got a Kalan from Aura fragrance. There's no line in the center edge of the bottle it's diagonal if you look straight down on cap across red part. Also the atomizer is white not black. Lid is heavy but inside there's a circle dead center inside lid but you can't see it outside. Also the gray plastic insert is off center. Batch code on bottom is straight across or horizontal. 3 looks really good. Liquid is way above horses head. Card board stamp inside black insert inside box looks bad. Part that lid sticks up out of is folded over. Outside box looks really good. Kalan isn't printed on front of bottle. Silver atomizer is scratched up a bit.

Tresor line usually last and last and last and last. This one gone after 5mins, also what scary is this seller have fake Macy's sticker on the box. But the seller was actually a reputable seller, I think he was not familiar with this more feminine scent. I was surprised to see him selling it unlike the more masculine splits he usually had. Hope you are well and safe. Have you ever run into this before? I was recommended to a guy who does decants by a FB group I am a member of.. The first time I ordered, I got 3 different PDM and 2 Mancerea Fragrances. All of them were great . Long lasting juice and decants were very nice with metal caps and atomizers, that sprayed really nice. I decided to place a second order because I was so impressed. My 2nd order was 2 different batches of Aventus and a decant of Bleu De Chanel Parfum. This time, they came with plastic tops and plastic, not so good atomizers. Both Aventus batched are fair at most and last on my skin about 1 hour. The Bleu De Chanel Parfum, smells terrible and lasts on my skin about 30-45 minutes. Just curious if you think this is a bait and switch, or if you ever ran into this type of situation before. Thanks for your time, Chuck Moore North Carolina

I blind bought a bottle of Herod from Fragrancex recently and was kind of taken aback by how light it smelled. I haven't sampled the original and I plan to head to the PDM boutique in Manhattan whenever covid passes, but having watched/read a ton of reviews it seems to smell like everyone is describing. I get the semi-medicinal cherry note, I get the incense and tobacco, but it seems very weak to me. At first I chalked it up to the fact that I'd been wearing Layton as a signature scent for weeks and since they both share some of the same notes, maybe I had become anosmic to the those and was only able to detect the notes that were unique to Herod, but this video has piqued my curiosty. I also noticed that the little black and gold pamphlet that comes in PDM boxes looked strangely faded. The cap seems to weigh about as much as the cap from my bottle of Layton which is for sure authentic, but after watching a few of these reviews I've gotten curious. Fragrancex seems to have a pretty stellar reputation in the community as far as authenticity goes. I'm wondering if these new fakes were decent enough to fool them too. Even watching this video it's kind of tough to discern the difference side by side. Unfortunately I'm out of state riding out the pandemic with family and my bottle is back in NYC so I can't compare it to the video atm, but I can't wait to get back home and see. Figure I'll just take it to the PDM boutique and ask them myself.

Also, the cap is a dead giveaway, the fonts are completely different, the real is “Times Roman” and the fake looks like “Sans” and the letters are crammed on the fake. This is exactly why I don't even buy anything from the gray market. With fragrances, I don't mind paying full retail. Just my own personal way to do it but I just like the feeling of peace of mind to know I'm getting legit juice. In other words if I want to buy Harod, I'll buy it right from PDM website or a high end retailer/authorized dealer. I'm smart enough with my money in other areas of my life that Im not interested in saving the most money on Fragrance. I also (and I know this may sound crazy to some) but I feel more legit/confident and badass wearing a niche fragrance that I've paid full retail for vs getting some "deal" that seems too good to be true. Just spend the extra cash and there wouldn't even be a market for fakes. Summed up... just pay up and stop trying to be bargain hunters.

Today I bought Layton from the official website in Paris. I used the code from the master class. Don't buy fake perfumes, they are not the same and last way less than the original. It's better to pay more from official sellers rather than being sorry and lose your money

Another very noticeable difference between the real and the fake PDM: Look closely at the bottle of the horse mane and horse legs/thighs, the fake one is lacking in detail and texture.

Hi Steven! Nice to see that you are doing well. Thank you this video, I purchased a fake Xerjoff Naxos and it was clear from the moment I opened the box that is was fake... The juice had a green hint and the bottle was completely rounded.. The worst ~250$ I've ever spent...

Oh wow. Thank you so much for telling me this. This is the first time I hear about that fragrance being counterfeited. I'm sorry to hear that.

@@Redolessence No problem, I think it's really important to share our stories to make notice of what can happen.

Steven I was hoping you could provide me with some assistance. I am a bit of a newbie to the Niche game and I purchased Xerjoff Naxos which is a wonderful scent but I have found that I much prefer Back to Black by Kilian... How or where might I look to trade??? I have the barely used bottle of Naxos with box and presentation bought from Lucky Scent... Any advise from you or others is appreciated...

I've sold fragrances on Kijiji and FB Marketplace. But if you sell on FB you need to obfuscate your ad wording otherwise FB will take your post down. I think Fragrantica has forums for trading as well.

Glad you did it in purpose, I was pretty sure you knew better. I don’t even look for bargains unless Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus etc. have some deal which is rare. I’d rather the creator get the money for their creations, that’s just me.

I like doing comparison videos between real and fake fragrances. If I can help one person avoid purchasing a counterfeit, I feel like I've done my job.

I love these type videos, showing us fakes for some reason. Ash did purchases on wish and Ali express , so entertaining lol, thanks for doing.

I just brought 2 fragrances, a Creed Original Vetiver & Mancera Cedrat Boise from fragrancex & maxaroma and on both boxes I have Arabic lettering, why?? Are they fake??
@CFVkayvan4 жыл бұрын
No they are not. Do some research on how fragrancex sells for their prices. Typically they are for other markets who have lower prices
