Love your vids. Not to nit pick, but Malaga Cove is just on the other side of that point, and rocky point just south of that. Rat beach is in the elbow of that little cove just south of your position. Rocky terrain, good shore fishing.

Thank you, that is good to know.

Always good info, I like to paint my surf weights White so that I can follow it mid-flight and apply some thumb pressure as it hits the water, it's not easy getting old.

Great video man, appreciate the info. I've been on a legal halibut from shore hunt. Drove out to ventura today with no luck, maybe I'll try out this place next.
@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors73055 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I think Halibut in general are a tough gig. They take a lot of patience and and maybe some dumb luck, and I'm not particularly good at either.

Awesome video... and thanks for sharing all the info.. I’m not good at reading the beach like that.. I just fish the spots I’ve caught fish before.. thanks for that info!

Thanks man. To be honest, I can blab on and on about terrain and science, but nothing really beats the real-world experience of catching fish.

@@leighco9 It's a beautiful beach. And I know from kayaking nearby that it's full of all kinds of life. I don't know if you are a fisherman, but I've caught juvy White Sea Bass in the kelp just a couple of hundred yards offshore.

@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 I learned how surf fish on the beach when I was 11. Later I fished, and worked at Red's Bait and Tackle on the pier and Tony's Fish Mkt. both are gone I'm sure. As a teenager I was a deckhand on the Sport King. I ran lobster traps out from Palos Verdes peninsula and helped with others on the backside of Catalina Island.

Hey brother, first and foremost thanks for the videos, second would you recommend launching out from that cove? Trying to save myself the time from King harbor lol
@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors73054 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. For me, it's not worth it. I can reach Malaga Cove in less than an hour from King Harbor. That means I don't have to deal with the surf launch, beach drag through the sand, sand cleanup, haul up the driveway, etc. For a beach launch to be worth it, I'd have to save...say....5 miles minimum. But that's just my opinion.
@JoseRuiz-gw5ke4 жыл бұрын
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 Well in that case nvm lol. I should be fine. Ill just have to park and pull my kayak to the launch dock you mentioned, not really comfortable with leaving all my gear at the dock while I drive and walk back lol
@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors73054 жыл бұрын
@@JoseRuiz-gw5ke Yup, you should never be comfortable with leaving your gear at the dock. At the very least, don't leave the super expensive stuff there (fish finder, etc.).

@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 Yes you're right, I wish I had a fishing buddy or two, I'll be going out either this Saturday or Sunday morning and trolling the shore for halibut. When do you normally go out?

@@JoseRuiz-gw5ke I do a lot of different things, so it's hard to say when I'll be going out next. A buddy of mine caught a halibut off a dbl dropper loop in 190' of water a few days ago!
