I watched this video and the one that you got stung by the stingray. Do bat Ray's have stingers too?
@WETTHATLINE3 жыл бұрын
Bat Rays have up to three barbs on the base of their tail. They are easier to hold in the round Ray because of how long their tail is
@markavery39883 жыл бұрын
Nice catches. But, if you are going to successfully C&R, you need to work on your releases. Throwing them onto the sand or shallow surf creates a high risk of injuring or killing the fish. Just sayin’.
@WETTHATLINE3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right when that happened I felt so bad for that fish. And the stingray was unfortunate because I had just gotten stung the week before and I was not moving that one properly. True fisherman should care about fish
@KenWon223 жыл бұрын
Awesome I want to learn...why do you throw them back?
@WETTHATLINE3 жыл бұрын
The only time I keep a fish is if I'm prepared to use it for food, bait, or if it dies when I catch it. Otherwise I say "Get bigger make more" LOL

@WETTHATLINE .. What weight sinker.. N how long is your pole.. 4000 reel good enough? Great job.. I was fishing the same place but nothing but kelp.. Only used 7 ft pole .. Need to buy longer one
@WETTHATLINE3 жыл бұрын
I was using a 7 and a 7.5' poles. 4000 is good. I feel the pain about the kelp!!! Some days that's all I get. I like using a 2 ounce weight but if your pole can handle more weight then the ones I'm using, I'd use a 3-oz just to make sure it stays where I cast it and then the other thing I do is tight enough drag cannot move in current but moves as soon as a fish hits it
@jeromegarcia44433 жыл бұрын
@WETTHATLINE thanks for info... Nice hit on the hali on frozen ancho.. Also seems your not casting to far and you were catching.. Maybe see you out there one day

Seein my lady’s family down in socal. Are there a ton of cali halis in redondo/torrance? Her dad is on a fish diet and i’m determined to catch him one!!
@WETTHATLINE2 жыл бұрын
Very good question I would say Redondo Beach Torrance Beach surf fishing is the way to go. Halibut are going to like the live bait on slider weight set ups or lures small and silver. It's been a little while since I've seen someone catch one and they caught it on live bait they caught off of the pier

Can you fish anywhere along the shore in Redondo?

I do believe so. They're are some spots that are impossible to get to. The only place you can fish without a fishing license is on the pier

Are you talking about the Yellowfin Croaker? I think it's 12 inches last time I checked
If you're going to throw them back, at least put in enough effort to toss them into the water, not onto the sand.
@WETTHATLINE3 жыл бұрын
I had just gotten stung by a stingray not too long before that clip and I was holding it by my pliers. I didn't want to injure its tail so I was gentle. I got it in the water and it swam away fine
