You are hitting the walls way, way too much. you won't even get to S league unless you race clean. The problem with reviewing a game like readout 2 if that you have to race clean and fast through a steep learning (competence) curve to ever come to appreciate it properly. Very few people will manage to get to the SRRL league. This game is serious about skill. It revels in an old school level of difficulty that will take months to progress through... but dam it is fun to go this fast!
@Killswitch14112 жыл бұрын
Did you want him to wait months for him to review the game and "git good" before he does? If that's the case reviews will take too long to release and it kind of defeats the purpose. Reviewers don't have months of time to just spend time with one game.. They review games and many games through out the year. Think it be best if the reviewer maybe got some clean footage and had someone who can actually play lol.

the people who enjoyed it most are veterans from the first game, since it retains most of the principles of the other, but now refined partly it's because these veterans understand that Redout is "arcade" merely out of reality limitations, it's pretty consistent and technical like racing games that lean to simulation, and that's why it's both so satisfying and challenging
@MrGRmask2 жыл бұрын
No kidding. I was attempting a Time Attack event today with one of Old Cairo's reverse tracks, and it took me over an hour to get 4 stars because: 1. I was hitting the walls too much. 2. Hard to maintain long sharp turns mixed with pitching upward. 3. Lack of track signs in certain spots that could potentially slow me down if not pitched correctly, meaning I had to fully memorize them myself or pay closer attention to the driver notes. 4. Boost management while taking energy management into consideration, which isn't efficient because recharging stops at the moment I hit a wall, meaning boosting less often than the proper amount. 5. Trial-and-error regarding which route in split paths is shorter. You actually need to take your time and fully practice each track, normal and reversed, if you ever want to nail most of the events in the campaign. The learning curve in the game could take days, weeks, even months, before the game can be truly enjoyed to the max. I'm still in the B-League, and the variety of events just keeps me motivated to keep going. The unlockables are quite nice as well.

A decent review, but I think you should have talked more about and used driving aids. Plus Redout also has physical limitations. It is a "realistic" game in its setting. There are no "helpers", which can't be explained by lore or track design. At least it feels that way. Something which is hard to find out is also how much the locations impact the experience. In the first game all tracks were really integrated into the environment and not just tracks slapped into a background. There was design like few track pieces and no gravity or low gravity, roots which you need to avoid, unique tubes or simply tracks fitted into an environment. Or stuff which made tracks unique. For example one portal, because the track was one of the first to feature it. Or a "railgun". Or large and small caves. Or debris. I think this was one of the things which made the design so good and it also made it feel less "gamey", which is rare for games rooted in fiction.

Okay, no I cannot sit down through the whole thing from the visuals I get to see. Or when I heard the line that taking too much damage takes you out of the race. First off, that is something only for Arena races where a ship death always results in a DNF. I'm sure people will counter with Last Man races and respawning puts you at a massive gap disadvantage. LMS races auto-eliminate last so they don't waste time getting the lap finished when they'd be taken out anyway; And even toward A-league have I've been able to clutch back a win from a crash. Redout Difficulty, 0% on all assists that I set manually. So don't say I'm not being challenged. And just the constant wall bonking from weak track and vehicle knowledge just paaaaiins me to see it. And to see the immediate run to arcade instead of walking first with at least completing B-class to the A-class promo. I know I'll sound elitist on those; but please. Do try to take it slower at first. Redout 2 is a lot of learning to do; Tracks, ship stats, ship selection, and burning up to the edge of your HP with only audio clues. There isn't shame not going the absolute fastest from the get-go. Like how a new boxer can't challenge the champions from the start; its learning the fundamentals first.

2 жыл бұрын
@@GangOfVortex The controlls got better, yet. But I would debate about the booster system. It is clear that about half of all players don't really like it. And I see why. It takes away so much from the racing and creates a managing simulator. Plus, the warning and regen sound effects really are quite annoying when you try to use the boost as much as possible. The problem with Redout 2 is that it is the only real option for AG racers right now. The controlsl are amazing but everything else really got downgraded from Reodut 1. The actual game speed is reduced, the campagin mode is even more of an mess, the upgrade system got completely linear, race tracks and enviroments lost so much character and the ost got significantly more pale and uncharacteristic. The races themself are great, but they don't have much character and flair anymore. They don't follow any design language. Many people don't seem to care too much for quality but looking from professional perspectives, artists, musicians and game designers are heavily criticising the game in the forums. Not because something would be terrible, but simply because the game lost so much quality compared to the first game. Random players are happy regardles but Redout fans are a bit disapointed to see their belioved franchise treated like this.

Regarding that, I would have prefered it when the different ships would have greater variances in controlls, so everybody can get what they want. There's no combat? Why?! This could have been the "Blur" of antigrav racing. What a miss.

The combat is the player wrestling with the controls. lol

It is a poorly designed game that disguises it FLAWS as "DIFFICULTY"... Old trick, nothing new... This game is not only a CHEAP rip off of the Wipeout series (where the real fun and DIFFICULTY is), but it is "difficult" in the same way it would be "difficult" for you to win... IF I TIED YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK!... It is "difficult" not because it demands skill from the player or because of a well balanced system that is precise, with a small margin of error... If you want crazy, fun, challenging anti grav racing... WIPEOUT SERIES is sadly the only choice (so far). Let this garbage join the likes of E.T. THE DUMP!
