@@alstone5559 as someone of Mediterranean origin, I can confirm that "small coffees" have never been pretentious - just normal. And better than the buckets of milky sugary swill that seem to be the first choice of people who prioritise the presence (and size) of cupholders and infotainment consoles over driving experience when it comes to buying a vehicle. Not a single cupholder or graphics screen in either of my cars...

Why people buy Ute's for daily driver if they aren't using it for a trade blows my mind. They just aren't nice to drive. If you aren't towing often, or using it for trade work, buy a Wagon or Sedan they're just so much nicer to drive.

You guys are gold. Would be super helpful to have a review of dealers too, as they vary wildly depending on their management culture, from outstanding service through to criminal conduct. While a good dealer can turn in to a terrible dealer when sold, or upper management replaced, a shout out to the good ones, and a roasting of the crap ones would be most valuable to the consumer.

I brought my bt50 in march of 2021 it has now done 86000 kms and it has been great. Under waranty I had the software update done as my screen was rebooting itself and lost a couple of features and that was about 20000kms ago and it has been great since. The safety features mainly the aeb can be a bit overbearing but it has saved my bacon a couple of times when people have pulled out on me. I’ve had multiple other models such as the 3.2 ranger the mr triton and the colarado and the new bt50s definitely take the cake for an all rounder. It has towed 3 tonne on numerous occasions and handled it a lot better than my 3.2 did. One thing that gripes me about it is the gear changes it will climb to 3k revs before changing unless promoted to do otherwise where as my colarado changes at 2.5k and drives much better for it. If your on the fence about buying one I say go for it I love mine. Also I haven’t suffered the bump steer issue my tires have worn perfectly. Along with this my local Mazda dealer have been great to deal with.

I have the same issues. Haven’t done half as many kms as you. The safety braking is Bleddy annoying though. It braked hard on us going down a steep driveway once. Not sure if you have the same issue but sometimes it’ll stall for a second or two before deciding on what gear to go in. Was told by Mazda that it was a safety feature blah blah. I’m abit over it now to be honest. Love hate relationship for me

Mazda also added a quick disable to some of the driver assist systems. If you hold down the steering wheel button on the steering wheel for about 3-5 seconds you will here a beep and icons on the cluster will ilimuinate orange to indicate they are turned off. better than navigating menu's every time you restart the vehicle.

If you really want to know, I work in a Mazda dealership currently. On the "UR" BT-50s (which are based on the PX chassis Ranger) it's just about everything on it goes wrong. Even a simple oil change can GRENADE THE ENGINE because if the oil pump happens to run dry (which is often found to be about 15 minutes between dropping the oil and refilling, sometimes less) it never picks up oil again and it comes to a screeching halt. On the automatic ones the shifter often breaks. Trim pieces are extremely low quality AND even the lug nuts are complete crap. If they're even slightly old they swell from 19mm to 19.5mm and become near impossible to remove. I hate them. utterly despise them. Worst utility vehicle on australia's roads today.

@@Momosu-cx3 it is a stupid design not to able to take longer than 10 minutes to change the oil but it is a simple solution, don't take that long. And everyone in the industry knows it is to be done within 10 minutes so if you are taking 15 minutes no wonder the engines are going bang in your workshop. In regards to the wheel nuts, just replace them with solid ones though again it shouldn't have come to that. Also if you are in the trade, you would know there is a socket set available with .5 mm increments for this purpose. Look the Ranger isn't perfect and definitely has its issues (another is the egr pipe) but they ride and drive better than the competition.

@@damilolaakanni Thanks for your opinion. Like I said. That's all I require for "my needs" Which is nothing more that hauling around mountain bikes, tools, occasional garden equipment. Not everyone needs a full frame, thirsty offroader "Real Truck" that can tow an excavator and a load of gravel. I miss the 80's mini trucks. Thankfully they are starting to make a comeback.

I just test drove the new BT50, and to be honest it was very underwhelming. I suppose I was expecting too much between my current 10 yr old ute and the new BT50.

I had to buy one after I wrote my old 2010 bT off in 2021. Great ute but its like driving a fucking pinball machine. Yes I know Im speeding, yes I know I am sitting up someones ass and yes I might have swerved off the centre of the road a bit. The worst was the automatic braking. I cant drive in a paddock with out the brakes coming on and a few times it has activated randomly on a straight bit of road with no traffic. The solution is a business card in front of the cameras. Now its more driveable.

Out of the 2 utes reviewed this week I'd go with the BT-50 as its at least more reliable mechanical from the sounds of it compared to the Triton. The new BT-50s look like they've got shit to do and not time to waste on bullshit lol. The ADAS systems being a pain in the arse doesn't surprise me as I know a couple of people with it's twin the D-Max and they've said that they've had problems with that system being over enthusiastic and causing issues. Great work as always guys and as always keep up the good work and look forward to next week's videos as per usual 👍

Has to have The Worst Autominous and Infotainment tech since Fred Flintsone. Remember the cost of these things so saying "its just a work ute" is BS as it's premium money. Valve check at 45k and $1000 job is just insane and brushed over and yet you didn't seem inform non drivers/owner the excellent fuel economy. Glad mines got the cup holders in the dash.🎉

I bought the first model after 75 k I am still very happy with it and my dealership Capalaba Mazda , the safety features are shit but I live with that , and yes it’s a work horse and runs like one , but I didn’t pay landcruiser pricing ,you get what you pay for my last izuzu (Colorado) did 400 k and it was still a great Ute when I sold it, all in all I’m very happy with my vehicle

Thanks again Adam/Jim - although this gen is better than the (née Ford version) there’s still too many schizophrenic issues with this one though it at least has the reliable Isuzu engine - I’m driving my second Toyota Hilux (2002, 2010) dual cab auto and the build quality, duco and reliability are brilliant - wouldn’t touch a crap Ford with a barge pole or VW (dieselgate scandal) - DMax mmmaybeee but if value for money was the key criteria I’d choose the Triton and they do what they’re designed for but not the new gen because it has the awful stop/start ignition feature which is dangerous really and the number of newly introduced ‘bad driving aids’ - my next Ute will definitely be a Hilux even if I have to sell my third leg for scientific research.
