Lots of factors when it comes to throwing out runners, e.g. pitchers not properly holding runners on, slow delivery etc. It is exciting to think Teel and Wong could be the strongest catching combo in baseball. As you said, no rush. Wong has been amazing..

Not sure about when to promote, but if he works out as we hope that could give the Sox a tremendous catching tandem. 2 good hitters, (hopefully) solid defenders, and one left and one right to match against the day's opposing pitcher. Now we just need more right-handers at the other positions.

What are your thoughts with Teel with Wong showing such promise would he be switching positions if he moved to the majors because Wong is clearly the guy at catcher for a long time in Boston I think. Don’t know much about his defense great video to learn! But wasn’t sure if he is a guy who could make a position change to third for Devers to eventually move to full time DH or if that is even a possible future option.

Another person that could help him if he gets promoted to AAA is Varitek. Worcester is a lot closer to Boston than Portland is so that is another guy that could spend time with him here and there working with him to help improve his defense.

If all you're going to look at is caught stealing # you're missing something important. pop and accuracy cone . There's nothing like actually watching games but if you can't...pop and accuracy cone are more important.

i don’t think he’s ready bc the sox don’t really need a third catcher. wong’s been really good, and mcguires stroking the ball so there’s no need to rush him, i’d say at the earliest he’d get the boost at the end of this year.

He sure is a great prospect. He has time to improve behind the plate so no rush at all. Wong has been great and Maguire has been pretty good as well. Look forward to Teels progress as he moves up!!

Teel is hitting but it's his defense thats advanced plus. If he can hit he's pro ready cause his D metrics are pro level already.

This is another example of the inverted red sox team. We have some production going on offensively from the catcher position. If this trend continues. Theres no real pressure on Teal.

Looking at Teel and Marcelos production I could see both of them getting promotions within the next month! Roman is a little behind with injuries and lack of production but the bat has been playing lately, all three should be in Worcester by the end of August and maybe even Boston depending on the situation at the big league

Bring him up. As you said he needs a challenge at the plate, and the experience of those at AAA may bring his defensive game along earlier than leaving him in AA. Also, I think a half year at AAA sets Teel up for spring training. My guess is the Sox plan to move on from McGuire in the off season, and hope to go with a Wong / Teel tandem in 2025.

There's no need to rush him, The Sea Dogs are 1 1/2 games out of first place.. I say let the big three learn how to win together and come up through the system together.. So when they get to Boston they already have a winning type attitude..

No need to rush him. He needs to stay in the minors and work on his defense. Our defense is our biggest weakness and we need to improve on it not weaken it.

When he's ready what happens to Wong? Trade or do we use hime at 3rd and 2nd maybe teach him first or the outfield so he can be super sub. Any thoughts?

@@redseatradio After about a year it may be an ineffcient use of their talents. Nathan Hickey looks like he could develop into a solid backstop too. He's someone to maybe put on the trading block to acquire short term help, but I'm no good at trades.

Both Teel and Mayer should be promoted ASAP. This would put both in position to be called up in September or early next year. This would make Reese Maguire a potential trade chip because Tyler Heineman would be an adequate backup to Connor Wong. I would be reluctant to call them up this year because spots on the 40 man roster are going to be a premium and neither has to be put on this year.

I think our big 3 all have good season, hope they can be bring up to Worcester in august. Although Wong has great season this year on offense, but his defense is not good enough, maybe we can see Teel in september.

It’s possible but I think he would need to really excel in AAA consistently. I don’t think there is any true rush so I see him more in 2025

Another good job, Corbin. I was led to believe his defense was solid, but your defensive numbers suggest otherwise. Offensively, yes, he's ready for a promotion. Nathan Hickey has been struggling defensively and outside of some pop, offensively, at AAA. Another month in AA won't hurt Teel. If he maintains his bat and skills improve defensively, I think he'll compete for a bench spot for Spring Training. Wong has been playing like an All Star this season, but McGuire has struggled somewhat. Kyle Teel is my personal #1 ranked prospect.

hi Corbin, great job as always In my opinion, I think the Red Sox keep their minor-league players in the minors too long. going back to Wade Boggs fans don’t want to watch Bobby D keep striking out. I wish I just give up on him and send him to somewhere where he might have a better opportunity. He’s been here long enough and it’s just tired and watching him strike out they need to bring up a few vital just to get the crowd going, sick of hearing about how great they are. Just gonna leave them down there until they stink. I wouldn’t be minors that long. If I knew I had talent they keep adding another year another year another year place should be 21 years old, not 24 years old or 26. It’s ridiculous.
