The only video I could find with actual videos of them in action along with riding impressions. Cheers for that. I just installed the Shockstop on my bikepack/mountain bike that rides pretty harshly unladen, and it definitely feels like the ticket so far. It reduces so much chatter and lets me stay seated more.

Perfectly timed. I got the seat post two weeks ago and fitted it tonight. Couldn't resist trying it out on an old railway track / bridleway, and the difference is just incredible. It feels a lot more like my old mountain bike on dirt tracks. I'm so pleased with it, so it's a huge thank you to you and your videos! Great work! A few years ago I had a back injury requiring surgery to fuse vertebraes, and now after a days work it can be painful to go out on the bike because the bumps can feel a bit firm on my back, but the seat post has taken all that away. Just can't recommend this enough. Terrific!

You are so very welcome. I just wanted to communicate how wonderful my findings have been and how connected I feel to it all. I never really enjoyed riding until now and my strength and agility has increased so much after my cruciate ligament tear began to repair, but it sure sounds like your situation was a lot more serious. SO glad to hear the seat post has been a success story for you. Hope you continue smoothly gliding to a pain free ride. All the best.

I just bought the sirrus X 4.0 and it comes with the future shock 1.5. I can tell it really works, there is no compromise to the ride efficiency. However, when I hit a harder terrain (still gravel) I would like a little more subtle ride and a better contact to the ground. Thanks for sharing your content it helped a lot!

Great video. I don't have a Sirrus X 5.0, but I have a Crosstrail Elite that I fitted with the Redshift seat post. Your observations about not noticing the Redshift are spot on. I set my Redshift based on nothing more than the guidance from Redshift for my weight range (on the top end like yours) and never looked back. I bike and don't even think about the seat post, it just disappears and does it's thing. Best accessory I've purchased so far. Got to say your video makes me want to run out and get a Sirrus X 5.0. Thanks!

derrleicaguy - that’s great to read. I seriously love the Shockstop. I went out with a mate the other day and he observed how much it was actually working as we rode, whereas I could barely notice it. My video really did highlight to me how much both stem and seatpost were working in using unison and I was surprised at that. The Sirrus 5.0 has the Future Shock 2.0 which I would love to test out... no idea how I could get Specialized attention, but it would be really interesting to do it. Anyway, thank you for commenting, glad I could help, and glad you like the video... it’s why I make them 👍🏻

Im riding a Crosstrail Elite too and was thinking about purchasing the Shockstop. So you'd recommend it? I have a specialized stump jumper mountain bike as well so the cross trail is mainly for riding rough country roads and the odd bit of dirt trail. Looks a great seat post im just wary of messing with the set up of the bike too much as its just about perfect as is, a really well made machine but any improvement is welcome.

@@jdredshift I highly recommend investing in the Shockstop. I have done very little to my Crosstrail other than add the Shockstop. This video is an excellent review of the seat post since he's showing it in use. I'm new to riding, but when I first got my Crosstrail I took it on some trails (paved, dirt, gravel) and my tail bone was SORE! This went on for a few weeks until I found the Shockstop. It was immediate relief. And after a while you forget it's there. We just bought my wife a Sirrus X 5.0 and we went for a ride. At the end of the ride we swapped bikes and I could only stand it for a mile. I forgot what a difference it makes. I hit one bump and I was ready to get my bike back! She's 40 lbs lighter than me so the Shockstop was set too high, yet she noticed a difference. And yes we are going to order a Shockstop for her.

@@8bitBarry1 Thanks for the reply. It's interesting you mention how your friend observed how much the Shockstop was actually doing. My son said the same thing to me recently. I really forget it's there. I just wrote a reply to someone else about the Shockstop and said that we just bought a Sirrus X 5.0 for my wife. In our first ride together we swapped bikes just before the last mile. That was a painful last mile! I've had my Shockstop since early in 2020 and three days ago was the first ride without it's benefit, and it is a big benefit. Ride with your Shockstop for six months, than swap it with the factor seat post and go for a ride, I think you'll find it eye opening.

Very nice video! Thanks. Have you had any comments from the dealership in regards to the Redshift seat post? The reason for my question is this: I had a Specialized Cross Trail (aluminum) on which I'd installed a Cane Creek Thudbuster. (In looking at your Redshift they seem to have some similarities and it makes the ride much more agreeable.) A week and a half ago I noticed a 'clicking' sound that seemed to be 'rotational' in nature that turned out to be a cracked frame just in front of the weld that attaches the upper tube to the seat tube. The crack runs a bit better than half-way around the upper tube. Since Specialized warranties the frames the bike is back at the dealer's shop and he's submitted a claim. He 'speculated' that Specialized may claim that the crack was caused by the Can Creek product. I highly doubt that it was but I was wondering if your dealer made any comments about your Redshift in that regard? It may be worth noting that I've ridden the Cross Trail a bit over 8,000 miles in the past 3 years. Also, I was pleased to see that the Future Shock is performing well for you as I'm planning on replacing the Cross Trail with a Sirrus 4.0. I will reinstall the Thudbuster (unless I can come up with a 'real' technical reason not to) on it as well. Since the Cross Trail is 'off of the road', I've reverted to using my old steel-framed Specialized Hard Rock which I've just rebuilt completely. It's a wonderful 30 year old bicycle that I bought new but the lack of suspension is beating the daylights out of my 70 year old body, especially my shoulders.

Mark Keyser hi there Mark - I don’t have any information to give you really, other than everything is working fine and it doesn’t seem as though the operation of the seatpost would cause any stress on the frame. The spring loading system could be putting forces perpendicular to the seatpost tube, But I can’t imagine this would cause any undue pressure on the frame itself. The very nature of the Shockstop movement is sprung and this movement seems to be a shearing force rather than a cantilever as it takes its payload. I am certain it would be a really good question to ask Redshift in light of the damage. I’ll take a look into the Thudbuster.... glad you liked the video!

Wonderfully timed video. I’ve been looking at the Sirrus X 5.0. How different is this than say the Diverge Gravel bike aside from the drop bars? Although, I see they just introduced a flatbar Diverge. So, I guess what I’m asking is, can the 5.0 go gravel? Thanks so much. Great channel!
@fraji1
@fraji1 4 жыл бұрын
Sirrus X Comp Carbon is great and can handle gravel. The price point of the Sirrus X Comp Carbon (2019) and 2020 Sirrus 5.0x is $1,650. The Diverge is a true gravel bike. Like the Sirrus the Diverge comes with different trim levels. So if you’re around the $1,650 price range check out what the Diverge can offer you in that range. These days these bikes are hard to find. They are all out of stock so you may have to call different shops to see if they have what you want. I ordered a 2021 Diverge Comp Carbon last week and I won’t have it until August. I just picked up a 2019 Sirrus X Comp Carbon yesterday as a leftover that a bike shop had. It was the last one. I wanted something I could get on quick and ride with my kids around town, NYC adventure rides and I could throw it on gravel if I need to. Good luck and be safe.

Thanks for this video. Very helpful. Just a quick question, when you observed that the Sirrus X 5.0 isn’t a mountain bike and that it had met its match for that terrain you were riding, is that a comment about the lack of a more robust fork suspension, the inadequate tires for that terrain, or did you feel that the frame itself can’t handle that much jostling? I’m wondering if swapping out the tires for a more aggressive MTB tire would basically solve your concerns. Thanks!

Smth like fitness runs, work - home routine and even some little trips 100-200km. Prices for that bikes I was looking is really crazy. I don't get why road bike with ultegra cost about 3000 and gravel with same ultegra is about 4000-4500 and its even heavier!! My main problem I dont like cheap look bikes, thats why I never even look at commuter or hybrid bike. But now I watching your videos and your bike looks amazing. Great tyre clearance, mtb shifters and even rear derailleur. This is what I dream about. What do you think is it possible to swap 11 speed sram to 12 speed shimano XT on that bike? I like the idea of the future shock and the ability to take it off the beaten path but this is mostly meant to be for use on road and in city. They are the same price so it’s either the full carbon frame of the Sirrus 4 or the future shock and “off road” capability of the Sirrus X. Judging from this video i might be over estimating the off road readiness of the X. I don’t know man, happy to hear any thoughts though.
