Now what if you planted a giant iris? I had a guy plant 2 large iris' , maybe 3 ft tall and 3ft around, drip line. They stopped their blooms within days of planting and they don't look great. How do you show the rhizomes on big ones like this?

Hi thanks for sharing. I find with the smaller iris it is easier to expose the rhizome to light. However, with the giant iris I find that the rhizomes grow downwards. Also as they grow they create so many fans on the rhizome that the rhizome gets overcrowded. In your case, I would trim your foliage (the fan) so that more energy goes into rooting and will also look cleaner. Plant the rhizome underground. With blooms give time as roots need to settle and then the blooms will come.

Which type of Iris is this? Bearded or Luisiana?

Hi Manish, it's a Bearded Iris in Kenya we don't get all the other varieties.
