Your boom operator was so charming and handsome that I had to rewatch the video because I forgot to learn 😆 Great vid!

Looked at this to find ways to deal with handling noise from selfie-stick for Insta360 One R - amateur use, but reassuring to see the professionals encounter the same problems. This vid gave a few pointers.

Should credit the boom operator who added tons of comic relief to this fun video. Always odd to find retailer for-hire videos leaving out credits even in captions/metadata.

Actually, no; it's just been on my mind lately. Funny how professional photographers always get their big watermark on for-hire gigs, but video production participants always seem left out. Am thinking this will change soon.

The Boom Op is Steven Fox. I've worked with him both in front and behind the camera for several years. He's funny guy and a great actor!

Maybe next time as a matter of standard practice, just cite at least the first-level talent seen in commercial videos? I know, it's complicated if done for-hire, but these are probably not created pursuant to work-for-hire contracts...

Looking at those Arri lights in the background. Great gear you got there including the mic
@davidtheday8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We actually lit the A-Roll with an Arri 650, bounced off an insulation board as the key light. Then used LEDs for the fill and hair light. The big sliding glass door in the background also provided some back lighting.

Well done. A very good understanding of lighting, looked very natural.

What about the boom recorder He's carrying around his neck Any tips on adjusting levels on there and how to know if you each take of audio has been saved onto the recorder

What's so funny about a professional taking off his shoes in order to get the best sound he can?
@poppijoni5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Walking without shoes isn't exactly a safety hazard.

Nobody wants to smell your gross feet. Buy some moccasins.

Surely a company out there could create some clips that can hold the XLR in place running alongside the boom pole (with adequate insulation of course) If anyone beats me to the patent office, then just give me £100 and a portion of chips and I'll be happy.

Rode make them if you search for Rode Boom Cable Clips, you can usually get them for really cheap

Whats the fluffy thing that gets put on boom poles? Whats it for?

It’s a wind screen to cut down wind noise.

Nice tips! But what's wrong with socks or soft polar bears slippers? Let people laugh, so long as they do it far from the microphone.
