Reduce Stress On Your Transom and Hydraulic Tilt/Trim When Trailering

During National Safe Boating Week, we at Seachoice would like to emphasize that safe boating is just as important when trailering as it is while on the water. Our transom saver, when properly installed, uses the trailer frame to support the weight of your outboard motor instead of the transom, motor bracket and hydraulic tilt/trim system. This is especially useful when driving over rough terrain and potholes. In this video, Phil demonstrates how to properly install and secure our Adjustable Angled Transom Saver (P/N 28004).

I purchased one for a 9.9 Suzuki 4 stroke tiller handle, going on a 15' Alumacraft. I am thinking I will find a good traveling hight and adjust saver to fit as I have no hydraulic system. I find the new 4 strokes heavy, and like most people who fish I do a lot of back road, bush road traveling. What is your thought on adjustment?

Do you let the full weight of the outboard rest onto the saver?

No. While the transom saver shoulders some of the engine weight, that of the lower unit, the transom still supports the majority of the weight. In addition, the transom saver transfers the bouncing and rattling of road travel from the lower unit to the trailer, thereby mitigating the tremendous stress placed on the transom, engine bracket and related hardware during trailering.
