My name is Jason Stefanski. I work for RedViking as the Director of Applications here in Plymouth, Michigan.
Hi, I'm Andy Potter. I'm Lead Controls Engineer here at RedViking in Plymouth, Michigan.
RedViking is a manufacturing engineering company. We produce and engineer AGVs, automated-guided vehicles, operational intelligence for Plant 4 data, and dynamic test machines for a lot of aerospace and automotive customers. What makes us special in the market that we are in is we tend to listen to our customers and understand their pain points and the problems they may have and we develop solutions to solve those issues for our customers.
An AGV has a lot of purposes. One of the biggest ones is to haul product around from point to point and deliver product from the warehouse out to the production line. The challenges we faced were packaging, the size of things, and the reliability of things. So Phoenix Contact offered an awful lot of products that allowed us to make things smaller, fit on the AGV, and had the uptime that we needed in order to be successful.
Phoenix Contact is very honest and very transparent with their product. They have a very wide product offering, which was great, from power supplies to terminals to Wi-Fi modules, which allowed us to kind of partner with them and develop that relationship and try to solve some of the problems that we have as far as delivery, costing, and just the technology. You know, with a robustness of our AGVs, we wanted a good-quality product that we can put inside the AGV. So Phoenix Contact came in here, worked with us, listened to us first before they tried to sell us their products, which was good. So they understood our problems, went back to their team, and proposed their solution, which we appreciate 'cause that's a lot of our DNA that we do with our customers.
So we use Phoenix Contact UPSs and battery backup systems to keep the AGVs active on the downtimes. So when the power needs to be off on the AGV, we can use the backup system to keep the radios and things active until we need to wake up and actually begin production again.
You know, Phoenix Contacts' catalog is massive, so that's one of the big things, is it wasn't just a power supply that we could work with one supplier, one partner to get the best pricing and inventory. It was the collection of all the electronic components inside the AGV. And when we're up against some tough applications with new technology, Phoenix Contact will offer up some demo equipment so we can do testing and labs and ensure that this is the right product for our customer and the right product for our AGV moving forward.--
