The top and bottom wires should not be being terminated to each other but both the top and bottom wires should be being terminated to the contacts when the housing is being closed

With spring-cage technology, the spring is opened via the actuation shaft using a screwdriver. In this process, the screwdriver is secured in the open terminal point. When the tool is removed, the spring pulls the conductor against the busbar. This connection can be released in the same way.

Hello. I am very sorry to hear that you’re having an issue. Depending on how the I/O modules are brought in or if new modules were added to the bus, the Modbus registers can get mixed up. If this is the case, I would recommend deleting the points and rediscovering them. If you are manually assigning their addresses, the registers are offset by +/- 1 decimal. As for the analog modules- if there is no device connected, the points will display a fault status. You may also open a Tech Service ticket, where we would be happy to assist you!

A quick check would be to test the line to determine if the resistance is Zero ohms, which would mean no resistors are installed; 100 ohms means that one of the ends is connected (not sure which), or 50 ohms meaning the line is correctly ‘terminated’ (two 100 ohm resistors in parallel produce a resistance of 50 ohms).
