Hey y'all - I had an athlete reach out and share some additional insights on the Nano X2's durability for rope climbing. He had issues with the sole durability of this model when climbing using a J-Wrap/Hook strategy. When I climb, I S-Wrap/Lock and didn't run into these issues, but I could definitely see how the J-Wrap strategy puts excessive stress on the sole of this shoe, especially with its slightly rigid sole construction where as S-Wrapping is more upper-focused. IMO, at this rate, Reebok should just ditch the "ROPETEC" feature in this shoe because as mentioned in the cons section, the more niche you go - the more this shoe's performance starts to drop off. Anywho, just wanted to add this point for additional context and I appreciate the community reaching out and letting me know things like this. For future reviews, I'm going to start adding more J-Wrap climbing to the mix to test this. :)

I tried em and didn’t notice anything that blew my mind, honestly the Adventure model is the best design they’ve done IMO. I love the upper and I absolutely love the upper lace hole that really locks in the laces. I’d recommend anyone to go watch Jakes review and pick up a pair. Great review again man.

@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
Eh, it will be hit or miss. Comparatively speaking, for CrossFit-specific use, I think the Nano X2 will lack performance for rope climbing. Don't get me wrong, the Nano X2 works for CrossFit, but I tread lightly when recommending them based on the model you're coming from and your performance asks. IMO, you'd be better off looking into other models like the RAD ONE, Haze, or Metcon 7.

Very nice videos! How do you compare the nano X2 to the UA tribase reign 4? Thank you!
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Just different regarding their fit/feel. Training wise, both models deliver a good level of versatility for most lifters/athletes. Nano is a 7mm drop while the TriBase's 2mm drop gives you a flatter foot position which will then feed into preferences. IMO, if you like flatter shoes, then I'd go for the TriBase. They also run a little more "dense" with their feel versus the Nano X2.

@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
For lifting/CrossFit, STR/KE if you like more “feel” with your shoes and a more minimalist sole. RAD if like having a bit more midsole and want a beefier upper. For athletic training/a mix of activities with some short runs, Nano X2! STR/KE & RAD can also work here. I’d pass on NOBULLs if we’re comparing them to these models. And thank you!

Fantastic video ! Your thoroughness shows how much work you do behind your videos,and expertise is always appreciated. 👌 If you had to chose between the nano X2 and the Adidas Dropset in the context of semi serious weight lifting combined with jump roping + some various indoor cross training ( no outdoor,cause I use running shoes for that),which one would you pick ? There are shoes that I would prefer @ $ 150 ( Haze trainer etc..),but these are never discounted ,which is 1 of the reasons I like the 2 models listed above cause they can be purchased at good discounts. Thank you and God Bless !
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say try the Nano X2 before the Dropset. Both models will work pretty well, though, so if cost is a major factor then opting for the most cost-efficient model won't be a bad play since both shoes deliver a pretty well-rounded performance for your asks! Thank you!

@@thatfitfriend I forgot,the Haze, Rad one etc...do the durability of these shoes justify their prices ? I am not cheap but frugal...I like quality that lasts. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
@@jpoupon66 Their durability is overall good, but there are def areas where they can fall short. The Haze can be limited for rope climbs due to the midsole getting eaten up. The RAD is limited for outdoor training and agility work on concrete. In gym for general lifting, both shoes do a pretty good job. RAD is a little better for CrossFit. They go on sale here and there. I believe TF2 has a code for The Wod Life that you can try. I think it's "TF2" and will save you $10 on purchases if you want see if they have any models that work for you!

@@intwominds1943 Absolutely agree. 260 V2s are just a stronger shoe in general, too. TBH, if you have the means now, I wouldn't even really wait until a "threshold" per se to invest in a solid pair of weightlifting shoes that you can implement. Lifters will last you a while and they're a great tool to implement and play with regardless of strength level. IMO, there's no bar to entry for gear like that, I feel like lifting belts are similar in that folks think they need a "blank" deadlift, squts, etc. before wearing. I have wide feet and the womens nanos were not the right fit. I am thinking of getting the mens and I’m a size 8.5 womens. I don’t know what size in mens to get and I’m also dealing with wide feet with only a neutral arch. I would want these for CrossFit. Any help would be awesome!
@thatfitfriend

Interesting! Generally, men's sizes will run 1.5 sizes longer than women's in length. So if you're an 8.5 in women's, then going for a men's 7 should be the right call. If you decide to give them a try and definitely let me know if you notice any width differences. That's would be super helpful for future recs!

What the difference between crossfit training vs hybrid training ?
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
For my reviews, I define them as the following. CrossFit training involves movements that you’ll generally only see in that context (rope climbs, burpees, handstand walks, etc.) or specific WODs that ca beat up shoes. Hybrid training is the recreational person that likes to lift, do a little running, jumping, and HIIT, etc. but doesn’t typically blend much CrossFit specific work in.
@MarthinLutherS
@MarthinLutherS 2 жыл бұрын
@@thatfitfriend Thank you for the explanation. So, Hybrid training is Crossfit + Lifting + running?? BTW, I am sorry for asking, because I still confuse with so many terms. In Indonesia crossfit is not famous, so many people still mix it up with regular HITT (bodyweight) workout.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
@@MarthinLutherS No worries at all! Hybrid could be that, but I'll typically describe it as not including CrossFit specifically but more dynamic work with the addition of lifting :)

I love your videos! Really easy to understand for me especially since I had never understood about working out shoes before. Currently, I’m looking for shoes to replace my current shoes (Adidas Ultraboost 2018). During my week I do some classes (body pump, HIIT, aerobics) and light-moderate lifting 1-2 days/week. I also do functional training, like F45. After I watched your videos, I put my choices between Reebok nano x2 or HIIT 2. Which one do you think is the best model that I should buy?
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I think you could go with either option and be fine, tbh! The Nano X2 will give you more during your lifting sessions while the HIIT 2 will have more bounce for aerobics and body pump. Basically, both models will ebb and flow with their performance a bit depending on what you’re doing, and you should be safe going with either model, so I’d base the decision on price point/appearance since they’ll both work!

Nano x2 or Metcon 7?

Depends on what you want them for/how you like your shoes to fit! Metcon 7 for CrossFit and if you like a more “athletic” fitting shoe. They’re a bit more snug so I think they’ll align well if you have a narrower foot. Nano X2 for more width and training that involves a bit more jumping/shorter runs!

Ef. I’m facepalming because I forgot to mention this. My thoughts below, On the spectrum of rope climbing, I’d put these in the middle if not just below the middle mark for performance. I think they’ll work for folks who are tackling ropes here in there in their training sessions, but they’re not my fave trainer for climbing. They’re very similar to the X1 here. The ROPETEC gives you some bite and the upper seems pretty durable, but Idt they’ll give you as much love/assist as something like a Metcon 7. Plus, depending on your pressure points, if you’re doing volume - I’m curious how the Knit is going to hold long-term.
