The name alone makes the system's identity clearer than Wii U ever did. Like this video itself said, a lot of people just don't actually understand past Nintendo history with this system lol. "Oh no, the name isn't creative enough! The gimmick isn't different enough, its doomed!" GameBoy ADVANCE was a stronger GameBoy. Nintendo 3-DS was a DS with 3D effects. They've had their weird touches... But it ain't like past systems haven't built on ideas they've done before, and the names especially are not THAT much more creative. Although I don't think the reveal was absolutely perfect myself. They could've done more with showing games that a regular Switch clearly can't do. And it being shadow dropped and leaked was also very avoidable... if they just revealed the dang system sooner. But otherwise... this reveal did what it needed to I feel like. Its not remotely comparable to Wii U's stumbles rn.

No one repeats their mistake for significant events like this. It’s always a new one. I think people will know this is a new console, but does this offer enough to appeal them or appears as a geeky thing like the yearly iPhone update? If so, how do they appeal to the audience moved on to steam deck? It is harder for Nintendo to appeal to the graphics-conscious audience if they can’t have the highest spec possible and their company image not being like the days of N64 and GameCube. They would need to have the R&D to keep up with regular upgrade like PS and Xbox.

The Nintendo Switch 2 to me just feels overcriticised. It was clear that everyone was excited from the leaks and rumours saying the next console would be an upgraded Switch, they all expected an upgraded Switch. But now that it's been officially revealed, suddenly it's getting so much criticism that it feels forced. Nintendo fans are notoriously impossible to please, everyone was rabid and excited for a more powerful Switch, Nintendo confirmed it was a more powerful Switch and suddenly no body wants a more powerful Switch. With Nintendo fans, whatever they say at or before launch will be the exact opposite within a year later. They did the same thing with both Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, they were excited, loved the games at first, most people claimed they should be nominated best game of the year, now most people heavily complain about both BotW and TotK. One thing that gives me a ton more faith that it won’t be a Wii U situation is that Nintendo are taking their time with it. The Switch 2 Direct is happening 2.5 months from now, and the release will probably be 2.5 months from that, which gives them plenty of time to showcase everything it can do at a good pace. I feel like way too many people who were expecting a release in March or April were sorely underestimating how hard it is to sell a followup to a console that basically everybody owns. Taking their time to highlight the differences is a good decision.

Something I think isn't mentioned often enough in this discussion is that when the Wii U came out any hype for the original Wii was completely dormant. People were pretty done with the Wii's gimmicks, not to say that they are inherently bad or unfun then or even now but at the time it was easy to label them as such. The gaming landscape the Switch 2 is in is a Cambrian explosion of handhelds in this form factor, *everyone* wants something like this and for Nintendo to just improve the switch and give the people what they want is what I think is the most sensible move. Cause, what, were they just *not* gonna make another Switch? Go back to separate consoles and handhelds? If the people wanting Nintendo to "be more creative" with this console got what they wanted I don't think it would end well, either we get the death of the Switch (a terrible idea), or the main thing that murdered the Wii U in the first place: feature creep. Maybe nobodys gonna use the mouse sensors just like nobody used the IR camera, but the Wii U and it's gamepad was like if the Switch U had 13 IR cameras and you *needed* to use them to play games. That's why it failed.

The Wii,s output in 2011 and 2012 was legit terrible, by the end of 2011 the Wii already was functionally dead, the only big Wii games in 2011 were Skyward Sword ( a very controversial game) Xenoblade Chronicles( which took over a year to release in the USA due to Nintendo of America not listening to the fans) and Kirby,s Return to Dreamland. 2012 was even worse as Only 2 first party games were released Mario Party 9(a very bad game) and Pokepark 2 a game that is incredibly niche. Kirby,s Dream collection released after the Wii U so I don,t really count as a ,,New big game,, in 2012 on the Og Wii By contrast the 360 and especially the Ps3 in 2011 and 2012 were in their Golden Ages, with so many incredible masterpieces releasing every month.

No. What Killed the Wii U was not Feature Creep, it was Bad Advertising, and a Lackluster first launch. Despite having all those features, you could still play most games without relying entirely on those features. The Switch, Wii, DS, and the 3DS had features; had games that make use of those features exclusively, but also largely had games that can be played normally with just its button and Movement layout. Mario Kart is on all of these consoles, and while these consoles have gimmicks for it like motion control steering, you could still play it traditionally as it always been; Same with Smash Bros on almost all of them. There's nothing wrong with having those features and being creative with them, it's why the Wii and DS still have an interesting and rich library of games that also make use of their unique hardware; while also providing games that can be played traditionally; same thing with the Switch. As Reecee in this video pointed it out, The Initial Reveal of the Wii U only focused on the Gamepad and what it could do, without properly communicating first that it's a newer Nintendo Console. Like the fact that it's the first HD Nintendo Console should've been highlighted first. And it's launch line-up was nothing to write home about in terms of First-party and Exclusives; A Party Game that made effective use of the GamePads features, an HD NSMB game, a Tanks vs. Monsters game, and an Underrated Zombie Game with great Gamepad integration. Third-party was good, but they just needed something like Skyrim and Borderlands 2 to round up the Major 3rd party releases at the time. But yeah, it definitely needed a killer app like a 3D Mario Adventure or something; not a whole lot to round out the holidays or the first couple months either. First Impressions and Momentum will go a long away to make a console appealing long term (just look at what happened to Xbox One, and compare that and the Wii U to the Switch and Wii). It probably wouldn't have sold a 100 million units, but at least would've gotten further than 13.5 million. Nintendo making another Switch is not a surprise and is to be expected, considering they always kept the naming conventions and foundations of their Successful Consoles (NES, Gameboy, DS, Wii), so I Don't see them going back anytime soon. But the only problem they're facing is how to incentivize getting the Switch 2 over the OG Switch and other possible competitors. Will simply a more Powerful and refined Switch with a few extras be enough? We'll have to See with the upcoming Direct. I only have issues with the most generic and uncreative name ever, and lack of interesting hardware, cause the Wii U had neither of these, and it still carried on what was built from the Wii; so frankly, the reveal left a lot to be desired.

It's Nintendo adopting what Sony did with the PlayStation. The Switch 2 means a sequel, in the same vein as the PlayStation 2 was seen as a successor to the original. People calling the Switch 2 another Wii U are delusional. Look back at the Wii U's reveal, the games shown off looked similar games on the Wii, the controller was brought up and shown off to an absurd degree, to the point I can see why many thought it was some tablet add-on for the Wii rather than a new console, and don't forget Nintendo's terrible marketing.

Or would this be a stop gap console. Nintendo is facing a reverse scanario as the Wii. They can maintain causal audience but the hardcore audience is clearly impatient with the underpowered console and going for the steam deck. They may try to appeal to a smaller audience at first and get the mass-marked real next generation with a better launch line up and gimmick after the tech is matured enough. Tech bump and increased price have been shaky with Nintendo. Remember the game boy color? This really looks like that scanario.

The morning the switch 2 trailer came out, I mentioned it to another kid in my math class who is pretty into Nintendo. He hasn't heard about it yet, so he started watching the trailer and watching it on his MacBook. Not a minute later, half the class was gathered behind him watching it too. Both normies (non-derogatory) and Nintendo fans. Nobody was confused, everyone immediately got it and we could immediately discuss it. I didn't have to explain what the console was at it's core, I got to explain the fun stuff like that the Mario kart game was new and that the controllers could be used as mice. This is definitely not a Wii U situation. (It was just a free period to study for an exam the next week and my math teacher is pretty chill so we were fully able to just watch it in the middle of class)

I think most people commenting that literally didn't experienced the Wii U reveal, it was a lot more than just a name, hell, I remember people having to draw a big red circle on the blurry white box next to the tv and speculate if that was the console because we REALLY weren't sure if a new console even existed or if it was only the gamepad, also coming back on the name, the Wii had a LOT of accessories and games branded as the "Wii something", there's no "switch wheel", "switch zapper", games aren't called "switch fit" or "switch play", the way Nintendo handled this brand is completely different from what they did with the Wii and Wii U. And one last point, and this is a major one, is that everyone already knew what was coming, not only due to leaks but also all the heavy coverage because the internet is not the same as it was during the Wii U time, I think people can't comprehend how things were before Nintendo Directs, you wouldn't even be expecting Nintendo to drop a trailer at any time because that's just not something that would happen back then, you would wait a whole year for E3 and hope for a reveal there.

I find it ironic and poetic that the best selling game of the Switch 1 is MK 8 Deluxe, it's the best selling game of not only the series, but the entire Mario franchise in general even completely surpassing the first two NSMB. games (especially when you combine 8 Deluxe's sales with the Wii U original, it's even higher than that) and the FIRST game they show for their next major system IS Mario Kart. That says everything for how completely commercially/financially powerful this series is and while I'm personally somewhat disappointed that only 1 game was shown as I definitely would've wanted 3D Mario being there along with 3 other games, credit where credit is due, Nintendo chose the perfect game for everyone to eat this console up instantly when it comes out along with the game, that being Mario Kart. Considering also the industry is slowly losing competition and true exclusivity since Sony has put their modern first party games on PC and therefore kind of devaluing the PlayStation hardware and making some consumers think "Why a PS when we can just get a PC and buy their games on Steam?" and that's just not much of a good look that they've been doing that even if there's some business benefits to it, doesn't help either that their exclusives just haven't been the greatest like they used to be so that's also been a problem since the PS5 launched, and Microsoft is pretty much a lost cause because not only have they totally declined since 2013 and they've barely been making much exclusives since then, but they haven't changed one bit at all in present day and in fact have only gotten so much worse and they don't even care about exclusives anymore therefore completely defeating the purpose of buying an Xbox since you can just get their games elsewhere and even then they still don't make much games. Nintendo will basically be the only company that still offers true value for not only the system, but also most importantly having true exclusives that you can only play on their hardware and they'll undoubtedly still succeed with this system as long as they keep being consistent like they have been and marketing this console well enough.

literally none of what you said was true. the wii was in its twilight years when the wii u came out, and had a huge decline in sales. the wii u didn’t compete with ps4 or xbox, it literally was marketed to a different audience in a different way. it focused itself on the gimmick and marketed itself as a very kiddy console.

On the contrary, people didn't care about the Wii U because "they already had a Wii". Nintendo knew they can't count on the casuals anymore, that's why they marketed Wii U with mature games like Zombie U, Batman and Mass Effect. Only when that approach have failed they went back to the casual/family console image again. But that didn't go anywhere either so they abandoned the system and focused on the Switch.

I feel like it's worth noting that the internet has been collectively obsessed with this thing for years now. When it was going to happen, what it would look like. The Switch 2 has already been heavily marketed by fan excitement for it before any trailers even happened, and that's in addition to it getting this trailer that clearly spells out what it is and a new direct in a few months. The difference is that not even Nintendo had an idea on what the Wii U was, whether it was for serious gamers or Wii fans or what. Even the name sounds confused, Nintendo couldn't sell it because how do you pitch *that*. Compared to the NSW 2, we're getting so much more they can sell and look towards. Unlike everyone says, it being named liked this is super beneficial for Nintendo, because it's an easy sell to anyone, they already know what the switch is like, but better now.

Now nearly eight years in, the Switch's core concept as a hybrid is an astounding success. The games, the marketing, et al. were on point. The Switch 2 IMHO doesn't need to do too many things, or try some absurd gimmicks. Do what the Switch can do at much more power, that may be enough to get games from the other platforms on Switch 2. And address the problems with the Switch. Joy Con drift is arguably the biggest demerit on the Switch.

That's one leak/rumor I beg for to be real. It would allow for more accurate WiiU/DS/3DS gaming in the future, even if the damage is already done on existing ports to Switch 1. There is even a real usecase already expected to happen in the next couple of years, in allowing a theoretical DS NSO app to imitate the WiiU VC.

That would be cool, but there are some issues just from physical "How do we do that? kind of problem. Are we gonna have to run a long cable from the tablet to the dock? Can we connect a Switch 1 wirelessly? Can we sync a Wii U gamepad (that would be pretty sick not gonna lie). Let's not forget that the console is the tablet not the dock, so it probably can't be wireless, it's possible that it can just broadcast the video signal to the dock wirelessly, but now you're playing it handheld mode so reduced power for the handling of 2 screens, unless you can power it via a USB in handheld/broad cast mode to still keep the performance. That would require the dock to have some extra hardware in it though. It's not impossible by anymeans, but there's still the logistics of it and Nintendo probably doesn't want to spend alot of money on that solution, and that feature would cost the consumer extra.

Supposedly, the feature would be implemented in the exact opposite way it was for the WiiU. Instead of the console being directly connected to TV output and seperately streaming it to a controller(gamepad), the Switch 2 would seperately stream to any linked up TV. Still unclear how such a wireless stream to a television would work in practice, but the idea at least seems logical from a mechanical perspective. Maybe they could even do us a funny and release a "gamepad controller" in the style of the NSO controllers, so we could optionally have a more original setup where the Switch 2 is in the dock and streams to said controller. Of course, pie in the sky-thinking, it is unlikely such a controller would ever actually exist officially.

there is one major issue with its reveal. yes the name and look of the system make it clear that it’s an iterative sequel like how playstation does it. that’s amazing. it will sell decently on that alone. what it failed at was literally everything else. at a first glance it didn’t establish how big of an improvement it is. outside of the core nintendo fans on this side of youtube, most people i’ve seen talking about this are just asking what’s the point or what’s the difference. nintendo should have made an effort in the trailer to show just how great of a graphical leap the system is (considering we know from the spec leaks that it’s 9-14x more powerful). maybe show a sizzle real of some powerful third party games running (like the leaked elden ring and red dead 2 ports). the fact the only game nintendo showed themself was mario kart, and it’s such a minuscule graphical leap that literally everyone outside of the nintendo fandom thinks it’s mario kart 8 again is genuinely a huge oversight. the consensus around it right now is “yeah it’s a new console, but what’s new about it”. imagine if don’t just announced the ps5 without showing it’s power, just the design of the console, and then ended it with like a new gran turismo game. people would acknowledge the flaws of the reveal a bit more. yes this isn’t a wii u situation since the switch 2 at least accomplishes the bare minimum of making its branding clear that it’s a sequel; but i think nintendo fans are being a bit too lenient to the reveal as they’re still afraid of a console flop. i hope it does well, and i pray the direct sells the console better to the general public than this reveal.

We only get visual differences and a slight change in the joy con technology which is not selling me until I’m 100% sure those things will not drift. And that Mario Kart part is a great point because I dead ass didn’t even notice until I saw people mentioning it online, you think your average consumer is going to catch that? They needed so show more games, tease the ui, show off the power of the system, literally anything else. What it’s showing me is a lack of faith to show off their product and I don’t know how many “ok let’s just wait” moments I can have with Nintendo. The difference is that the SNES came out when the NES was still powerful enough to satisfy the market because graphics sucked even on the most state of the art systems in the early 90s and the 3DS had more competition from mobile games that the DS did not have. This time it seems like Nintendo is the one going after the PC gamers and long time Microsoft and Sony fans because the Steamdeck and ROG ally can’t actually play PC games properly. With massive 3rd party support and an unbelievable jump in power for 1st party games the Switch 2 will easily outsell the Switch.

Switch2 will do just fine. It being connected to the Switch means it has a massive backlog of games people can play and buy, this means that even with a Switch, at any time I could buy a Switch2 and it be a pretty safe option. I already have tons of games and now theyll run better and once the new games start releasing, I'll be able to play them since I upgraded. It isnt a lose-lose situation where I have to decide if I want to keep my console for its games n such, i can just upgrade and be fine. The only thing that will keep me from buying a Switch2 right away is just waiting to see of any hardware hiccups that happened on Switch1's release.

The Switch form factor combining handheld and console into one is something Nintendo had been working towards for decades. Once they finished it they weren't going to throw it away. Nintendo will never make dedicated consoles/handhelds again (insert Switch Lite joke here but it's the same system). Once you commit to the hybrid factor, it's...gonna look like a screen with buttons on either end. You can't dramatically shift the Switch's form factor without breaking its use as a Switch. Game development takes so long that a dedicated handheld and console at the same time just can't be supported. Nintendo was trying for years to make their two things closer before finally merging them. The leaked 3DS successor that was canceled in favor of merging handheld and console was basically a Wii U lite, running on Wii U architecture with basically all its stats cut in half. That was the road not taken: basically making a dedicated handheld that could play downported versions of console games. Instead they chose to merge the handheld and the console into one device and that means you have to accept what the hybrid format forces on you in terms of what your system can be.

This Reveal-Trailer is so 3rd Party developers can say that they are doing a Game for Switch2 (and so the leakers can shut up idk) There will almost definitivly be new Games for the Switch 2 revealed in the April Nintendo Direct ABOUT the Switch 2. This was kinda an it exists trailer. Then with the April Direct they will start really advertising it with games and more concrete info about the console. Then there will be some hands on events to test it out. The console will then after the Advertisement and new Games revelaed drop in June or Something

My main issue with the trailer compared to its last iteration is that besides a few different changes here and there, the trailer fails to sell me on buying it when I already have a switch. Same gimmick but slightly better doesn’t mean anything to general audiences I’ve asked friends who are casual Nintendo fans/switch owners and most of what I got was pure disinterest because the switch they have is serviceable enough. These are first impressions so they are most likely to change with the more info that comes out, but right now me and some others aren’t impressed yet because we don’t have much to go off by. This is a side note; but Doesn’t help that we are going to be approaching a rough economic year, I’m sure people who want the switch 2 would have to wait long after it comes out because it’s probably going to be expensive as hell, not to mention the general distain for the price creep of games in general.

most people have been having tons of issues with their switch the stick drift. the lack of performance. the frame rate. joycons not connecting on handheld. bringing up that the original is just fine is really not a good point at all here. its why the wait for the switch 2 has been hated by everyone. everyone needs a switch 2 yesterday.

@ I agree to an extent, because yeah the switch we have now is pretty cheap and definitely needs the upgrade, but based on this trailer alone, besides a graphic update, new joy cons and a new kick stand tells you that this will address any major problems the switch has to convince you to save up and buy it? Imo the switch 2 was in a very unique position compared to the last switch. The first switch trailer had to sell you on the concept and it did it extremely well, but the switch 2 needed to convince people it was going to be better right off the bat and we didn’t get anything beside barebones changes. The only promising thing in that trailer was the backward compatibility that people were really hoping for which is a win. I don’t care if it looks different and presents itself as different, I need it to actually be a step up and most likely in a few months I’ll be more excited, I actually 100% believe my tone will change, but for right now besides hardcore Nintendo fans I’ve seen a lot of disinterest and meh overall from this first impression

Backwards compatibility is my only motivation so far, and even then I'm waiting at least a year if not two. I have no reason to buy it at launch and I doubt April's direct will change my mind. But I waited this long, couple more years won't kill me.

I have my switch already and I’m fine with it and I feel like most casual gamers or families feel the same way. The switch 2 to me is the same gimmick again with a slight graphical change until I see otherwise.

It is weird. The Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS Vita and Nintendo WiiU all have the same case basically. Yet for some reason, the DC and Vita have gotten the reputation of being great consoles cut short before their full potential was established, while the WiiU is for some reason treated with the same kind of non-dignity as useless junk like the CDi or Virtual Boy.

They also hate Nintendo with passion and seize the opportunity to attack and spread hate and ridicule for it when it makes something that doesn't find heightened success.... Most of Switch's best games are stolen from Wii U anyway, So I'm sure the Wii U hate is just ingrained Sony fanboy propaganda. As for the dream cast......... Another problem with the WiiU is that it came out during peak peripheral-era. Wii Balance Board, Wii Motion Plus, the Wii series of games. Even as a Nintendo fan who followed them closely at the time, when I first saw the picture of the gamepad, I thought it was another peripheral. You almost had to go out of your way to learn that it was more than an accessory. With that said, the WiiU is my favorite console, and it deserved much better than it got.

The thing is that nintendo usually names their systems with their gimmicks or kind of in the direction they are leaning with the switch 2 people might think this is a revision of the switch 1 like the oled or light like a pro edition Because while sony names their consoles by number each generation sega named their hardware revisions with numbers like the sega genesis 1, sega genesis 2 (sg slim) and genesis 3 (super slim) and well yeah sega is out of the market for a while but due to how nintendo named their consoles previously people might come up that this is just a pro variant Especially if they aren't showing a lot of ns2 exclusives so people are forced to believe that this is a new console because with the wiiu they had a lot of cross gen titles up until 2015 aswell so it even felt less than a new console necessary to buy

I wasn't thinking it until I saw the thumbnail to this video, but honestly the switch 2 looks EXACTLY like a Wii U situation. A product that looks to only be a minor upgrade from the previous one at a first glance that isn't advertised well enough to convince the majority of folks otherwise. Us fellas here watching these vids already know it will be a better improvement than what came before, but the skeptics and most importantly parents with little clue of gaming will probably just not buy it. Parents will still see the Switch's popularity and think "why not get that for my kid on his 14th birthday?" Just like how it happened with my cousin and the Wii when the Wii U came out. Nintendo makes money with its games compared to the other 2 (now just single tbh) gaming giants by being the first stop for family friendly gaming. That means the kind of games it has is more important than how improved the storage and processing power is or even graphical differences if it is not as clear as moving from low poly days of 64 compared to Wii. But hey, my reasoning is a mix of anecdotal with some facts. I'ma just watch the vid and maybe delete this comment if honestly it is made with more fact than my own. That or convincing enough. Honestly this video has kinda made me change my tone from doubt to more so concern. Concern that the Switch 2 CAN be a Wii U situation, but there's barely enough substance to make such a claim. Still, I would hardly call it in the favor of not being Wii U all over again. I lean towards the side of it is gonna be like the Wii U and the Switch but worse (for me at least and maybe like minded people) where I didn't care for the New Super Mario Bros. U just like I ain't care for MarionKart 8 Deluxe nor BotW for the Switch cause I had BOTH on the Wii U. Hated that, but the hype around both Smash 4 and Ultimate is what made me get both a Wii U and a Switch, but later on in their respective release years. Since I don't think there'll be a Smash game past Ultimate, I think I might sit this one out unless there's a cool looking Zelda, Fire Emblem, or Metroid to hook me in again. And all this in the context of folks like us who talk about Nintendo and games online and are Nintendo adults and what not cause we grow up with their quality from the past, so I can only imagine what this means for the other arguably bigger demographic that is parents buying for their kids. It's gonna be real hard for little Timmy to convince Ma and Pa to get Switch 2 for his 14th Birthday compared to the console they've seen everyone playing with and in other relative's homes being the Switch, and is just similar looking enough that money is a more deciding factor than that. That is literally what happened to my cousin with the Wii because the Wii U looks the same and when he came to visit with is family it was the Wii that me and him played together. That was our family console, so they just got him that. All these reasons are why it feels like the start of what COULD be a Wii U situation. Ain't mean it is and honestly for skeptics like myself I'd say call it like ya see it WHEN the Nintendo Direct comes out. But for now since all everyone on the internet is doing is reviewing a trailer with basically no definitive information and making drama I thought I'd add my thoughts to it. That ain't this video, which I actually do like because it is more so trying to quell the drama. Good luck with that, cause just like the folks becoming frantic with drama that has been made up off of no substance, there is little substance and evidence to clear the Switch 2's name besides anecdotes of the past of what has happened. Good attempt tho, definitely subscribijg cause I wonder what the video on the Nintendo Direct will be when that inevitably comes out.

Ok so my thought process behind this is that I really don’t care if it is a Wii U situation (which in my eyes, it doesn’t look like it), I will buy this thing if it’s good. When the OG Switch came out, there were some criticisms about battery life and general software stuff. I plan to wait and see how people react to the first wave of the Switch 2 and if the pros are good and the cons can be overlooked, then I might as well buy it. I think I might also wait to see what games it might launch with or what games are set out after launch. If there is more good games than a brand new Mario Kart (nothing wrong with the game, just would want more than that), that’s even more of a reason to buy it, but if not, I will just wait for the new Splatoon to come out and then I totally will buy the console and the Splatoon.

Yeah that's the right approach, because probably the first consoles will have some minor problems that will get fixed in the ones produced later. You shouldn't buy it at the day one unless you really can't wait, and buy it after a few months when you effectively know everything you need to know about the switch 2

Let’s not forget Nintendo has been making console “upgrades/next version” since the beginning. Nintendo entertainment system/SUPER Nintendo entertainment system, Game boy/game boy COLOR/game boy ADVANCE, Ds/3DS. The Wii U was the only one that failed, just because one flopped, doesn’t mean the next one will. Nintendo has already done more than the Wii U with switch 2. The Wii U is probably why it’s called the switch 2 and not something like the switch ultimate or something

I don't get why so many people are disappointed by the Switch 2 reveal, the Switch didn't need to be replaced it just needed to be tweaked and optimized. As for the name itself- yeah okay the name sucks, sorry but it just does. That being said that doesn't mean their crappy name is going to effect or impact the sales, let's be honest, we're all hardcore easy and sleazy for Nintendo and we will all happily open our wallets for the new Switch, no matter what they called it or how little they changed about it. But we all knew we were getting an improved and more powerful Switch, basically since the og Switch was first launched.

Another problem with the Wii U name is that they'd already branded many games as 'Wii' e.g. wii sports, wii fit, wii party, wii music etc etc. so with the marketing being so heavy on the gamepad, it just looked like a new peripheral for the Wii. The switch doesn't have that problem
