Nice video, I've crossed your restorations before, sort made a mental note to check in now and then, but I caught Will Stelter's walk through of your collection the other day, and that triggered the subscribe button. You seem to be "the Man" on vise restoration and identification. Wonderful collection, by the way, I'm super jealous (in a good way, it's good to desire things that are out of reach, it promotes self growth.) Keep these videos coming we're all out here waiting with baited breath...

Neat trick with the tape to clean up a handle. I even have a drill stand that would allow me to mount the drill horizontally like that.

Great work, Brother! I just started on my old Reed No. 205 R, and the only thing I wish you had included (my main reason for watching) was the disassembly process. I've figured it all out now, but I've got my work cut out for me. A couple of deep chunks and burn-outs from the previous owner that I'll have to tig up and grind out. Also, I'm going to have to fab one new ball end for the handle, as well as weld up some spots on the jaw faces, and try to recut the knurl/surface texture. Fun Fun!! Wish me luck!

Nice work! Some good tips in there. I noticed you were liberal with the grease, but no protection for the rest of the bare metal surfaces, add some furniture paste wax into your routine to keep the surface rust at bay. ; )
@Mexashop14 жыл бұрын
Great! I've never used paste wax ill be using that on the next vise resto,,,Thanks bro!

Easy, set it flat on a piece or iron heat it and hammer it straight, those reeds are one of my favorite ones 👍🏻

Instead of tape. Take vaseline and put smear it on the parts you dont want paint on. Then scrape it of with that razor.
@Mexashop14 жыл бұрын
Thats the first time i hear about using vaseline i gotta definitely try that 👍🏻 thanks for the the tip👍🏻👍🏻
@tomallen60734 жыл бұрын
A file will cut that tape off super slick. Just run it along the edges.
