To the King of DIY.... You have great videos.. And in these great videos, you say that we can follow your lead and be inspired.. To try out “Your” ideas.. This guy did.. And he’s not claiming it was his design(even if slightly different than yours”.. He was inspired to “Create” something that wud be gud for his system.. He added a silencer.. He gave instructions.. This video came 6 years after Joey's first video and 1 year after a follow up to the original video. Though people may came up with the same ideas but this is pretty much a remake of Joey's updated design. Did he reference king of diy in this video? If not then he's plagerizing. Joey have every right to make his point heard.

For me I learned a lot of things from the king of diy, I recorded all my project creation, sump, tank and the overflow, and didn't claim any for me. At the end Joy is not the first one who created this design too. Search well and you will find other videos before joys video. So don't judge me please.

AnjuABCDE nonesense! The whole point of diy is to look for cheap ways to either improvise or improve on other products that would cost money. This is what “diy king” himself is all about. I just built this using your video. I did everything except the 3" cap for the silencer. Definitely going to get one! Little load, don't bother me..but does my wife when she is trying to sleep! But thank you!! Works great though!!

This method works well. Those who have growling problem, adjust your ball valve from long inlet pipet, the issue is that the amount of water pulling from pump not equivalent with drain water.

Hi, the length of the pipes should be related to the diameter, so in your setup I recommend to try the 1/2 inch

How has the pvc overflow held up since you installed it. I was thinking of doing the same, but my biggest concern is losing syphon. Have you had any issues?

No it's works perfectly, no losing for syphon unless the power outage remain for long time maybe a day or more

is that because it covers the holes? does it rattle on top of the weir? I am setting up one right now, and I like the silencer idea :) I have also heard that if the weir gets noisy it may be because the sump pump is too strong, you can crank it down with a check valve. . .

you need minimum 3/4 inch, and if 1 inch is better, thank height should be more than 23 inches then you can make the holes on 19 inches height

That silencer cap is very simple but clever, im mad at myself for not thinking of that... Put my overflow on the shelf cuz of to much gurgling noise from it. Now i might get rid of it! This design has a failure point. The 'T' must be ABOVE the level of the inlet tube bottom inside of the weir. Otherwise the weir sucks dry to the bottom of that tube and siphon is lost. I've been screwing with these overflows for a year now in a test tank. See the vids if you want. I've let it sit powered down for a whole month and it started right up when the pump was plugged in. Did a lot of flow rate testing too... and found that a 1" schedule 80 PVC overflow will max out at right around 550 gph.. tops. A sched 40 one tops out at under 500 gph. A 1.25" shed 80 one at about 650 to 675 gph
