I totally agree with the hawfish statement. I have an adult red (flame) hawkfish and it doesn't bother my inverts. Sometimes crabs and shrimps literally walk past it and it doesn't care. It also interferes with other fish fighting and tries to break them up. Love that fish so much especially when it's following you with its eyes watching what you are doing. I also have a goby with a pistol shrimp and they are fine

My falco hawk fish has killed both of my cleaner shrimps(caught it action second time), stripped my sps corals(I assumed there was a water problem to start off with but after watching I saw it eating the pollups off my sps), it harassed my tiger goby to death and I suspect it’s also behind the huge decline in hermit crabs since it’s been added. Despite it being a bad swimmer it’s also impossible to catch! Everything else I agree with on the video however. Very much enjoy watching your videos

Dude Wrasses and hawkfish absolutely destroy cleanup crews. Hermits and snails will be gone unless they are big crabs and turbo snails. The only truly safe type of wrasse is like a fairy wrasse. And hawkfish are called that for a reason, if it fits it ships, when they eat lol.

Hi first off I just want to say I love the videos and you are a great help to my marine saltwater tank. Just a quick question, I got a starfish just Sunday gone. To come home Monday eve to see the starfish was eaten r fallen apart.. The fish I have are, 2 x clown fish, 1 Royal blue tang, 1 shrimp, 2 x damselfish and 2 x green chromis. Its a 60 L tank. Would you have any idea what could have caused this? Water is 100% as check it regularly. Kind regards, Shane.
@ReefDork
@ReefDork 4 жыл бұрын
How did you acclimate him? They're very sensitive to salinity changes so need very careful and slow acclimation and rock solid salinity. I'm pretty sure that'll be the cause. Also, I'm afraid you're asking for trouble with a regal tang - 60L is far too small, even for the short term.

However in this instance I like it simply due to the colorful background and 'Simpson' style doodling of it.

Blennies is totally reef safe in everybody's opinion.. Am I the only one that had a tail spot blenny munch away on SPS... Gotta be said it was chased a lot by a long nosed hawkfish, so it might just be because of lack of food...

No you're right - there are reports of the combtooth blennies biting sps. Every fish has the potential to go rogue every now and then.

Royal Grama is by far NOT peaceful fish. They always start out nice. Every last one (4 in total) I have ever owned, turned EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE! Each time I get rid of one, I get a "reef expert" convincing me to get another one. Each time I had to rip apart my tank to get it out. NEVER AGAIN! Oh, Reef Dork, I wasn't saying "Reef Expert" meaning you, I was speaking about the fish store people. You're great, please don't take that the wrong way. Thank you for eh video

My royal gramma just hides all the time and barely even comes out to eat! I think I maybe bought him to large maybe because I have had them before and the other was very active. The only fish in the tank with hi is a peaceful tailspot and my clownfish are the most boring fish ever! The just hang in the back corner of the other tank and no mean or aggressive fish in with them either! Even when they were in the alone thats all they did! I had to get rid of my hawkfish because he killed every new fish I added plus killed my huge cleaner shrimp!!

Skookumchuck Reefer definitely get a clown. As a reef keeper who has kept many exotic fish I can’t think of a fish that has kept me more entertained than a clown. They have more personality than anything I have ever kept and I am an Oscar keeper to.
