I lost almost everything in my tank as well. I lost complete interest when this happened, but I learned to appreciate my fish through this whole experience. I had been fighting a severe case of Dino’s for three years and severe cyano. I also ended up finding a rusted shaft on my map-10, that I’m sure was not helping things. I tried everything to combat these issues, but had little success. Luckily my aquarium is small enough I was able to get things back after 6 months. I just introduced some corals last week, that to my surprise, have taken off nicely. It’s great to see you back. Thank you for putting these videos together, it really inspires me to do my own research. I wish you nothing but the best with your aquarium.

It’s rough when things don’t go well! My fish are a large part of why I still have the tank too, I felt like I owed it to them to do my best for them. Dinos are no joke!!

Omg.. dying!.. saw this comment as I was trying to find a polite way to hint at the lack of coral.. had just been intoduced with the temp video from 2yrs ago and thought I would see this new vid and how the coral filled in. Well... i mean you are kind of asking for it if you call yourself REEFman, and giving reef tank advice, with not alot ofvreef in the tank. But ..reefman.. if you Are reading this, the chalice and zoas look great!.. and you have a good speech cadence in your vids. .MY tank advice to You.. is.. get some easy cheap sale stuff.. some soft corals on their own rocks on bottom ..xenia, cloves, speckled leather etc.. then, neon star polys candy canes, and duncans. Easy to care for will grow quick, add color and movement to your tank ...all whilst helping pull out nutrients.. heck, the first tank that inspired me to get in the hobby was just pulsing xenia coast to coast on the scape of a 90gal. Coral is key.. the easiest way to keep a reef tank stable and have a healthy micro biome is to have alot of coral. Get it full of the easy stuff first. Covered with coral is always beautiful, no matter what type it is.

When you said “big bag of heavy water” I immediately pictured nuclear green glowing corals lol.

I would love to see you tackle the topic of SPS tissue Bubble-Blistering in a future video. Lots of hobbyists are experiencing this, including myself, all the reef board threads are left inconclusive.I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Welcome back!

I’ll see if I can find any research on it. Can you link a thread for me to start with?

Glad to see your back! I was worried you left the hobby. I also have Cyano that I'm afraid to nuke. I'm trying to see if I can out compete it with some bacteria product in the long run. My SPS demand nutrients so I don't want to risk starving out the Cyano either. I'm pretty sure kalk paste would work to kill back montis, you could chisel/smash it back and hit it with some kalk paste. If you add nudis and have any fish that eat them, you might end up in a never ending war that prevents you from adding montis ever again and a bunch of half dead montis. I had monti eating nudis about 10 years ago and they sure rid the tank of montis. Looking forward to more videos!

I think bacterial products might be something to try for the cyano. I want to steer clear of the antibiotics that are the quick fix.

Sorry about your angel fish 😢. You have some amazing chalice in there, but you are in a tough spot with that montipora.

Welcome back. Your channel is nicely informative. Wish BRS had someone like you on staff, instead of the new clown.

Happy to see you back. For the invasive monti, have you tried killing it with kalkwasser paste with the flow turn off? If the cyano is bothering you too much, you could try blowing it off with a powerhead. If it’s the stubborn kind, scrape it off with your fingernails. Anyway, I hope your tank will return back to its former glory.

I haven’t tried kalkwasser paste mostly because where I’d like to kill it, it’s very close to things I don’t want to kill. Might be worth a try though.

Do you know if your water chemistry is low on iron? I recently heard raising iron to natural levels is possibly effective in reducing cyano.

I did recently send out a triton kit, I haven’t gotten the results back yet though.
