Reel Mowing Time! And My Annual Physical 😩

Fall is here in the north and it's reel mowing time! You can reel mow anytime of the year, unfortunately I don't have in-ground sprinkling, therefore I only reel mow in spring and fall so my Perennial Ryegrass and Kentucky Bluegrass can handle it.
I had my annual physical and it wasn't the best news. Gotta make some changes.

Here is a quick tip that I found helpful, Coach. I put a nut on each of the 4 adjuster bolts and use them to act as captive nuts. Once I am adjusted perfectly, I tighten those bad boys down and they hold the blade perfectly the way I set them.

Hey brother Mike, I remember using a push walk behind greens mower when I was about 16 years old! I mean Brutta that was a work out!!!!!! Only once did I do it! A couple of suggestions: If you can, set the mower wheels on something like blocks of wood so you can check and make adjustments without constantly moving the mower around! The other suggestion is I found that either using paper like a match book cover or card stock like a 3×5 card or 2 or 3 thickness of newspaper is the best for checking cut! One more thing... back in 2001 I was about 235 to 240 lbs. a and out of shape! I'd like to tell you the whole story sometime. But, I lost 60 lbs. in 6 months but eating right and doing Taebo! Now, I've maintained and weight 180 lbs. I'm 68 years old and I am in great shape! (As I told you in my email, I kicked my son-in-laws butts and out worked my 4 - 34 to 40 year old son-in-laws!😁 I'd love to be a part of your accountability group! Praying for you and your family! @@TheBitsonEffect Hey brother Mike, I forgot to mention why thicker paper is best. I found that when the reel contacts the bedknife so hard that the reel "squeals" the friction between blades will cause premature wear on the blade plus that friction will not only create heat but excessive drag. The thicker paper, if adjusted right, will cut with very little reel to bedknife contact! Kevin Barron

Roger that! I'm 5'-8" and have been as high as 275 (when I was powerlifting). Every Friday morning I will put out a quick video with weight update and the past weeks struggles or success'. Everyone can then post theirs in the comments.

is that the 18” 7 blade? Looks like you removed wheels and added a roller and a striping kit?

Yes sir it is. And yes I did. I reused the shaft from the wheels and used a roller from my old Earthwise 16". And then I added a Big League Lawns striping kit.
