To Sean's point, the final twist was a call back to Tucci's character saying he wanted women to have a more active role in the church and a push back from another Cardinal saying they should never mention women. It works. Also the line Sean was referring to was from Cardinal Benetiz, the Cardinal from Kabul. Fiennes should finally get his Oscar

The fact that we are constantly using the phrase “traditionally, this wouldn’t be an Oscar contender…” is the problem. Who cares about tradition. The awards should be for what is deemed the best picture, actor, etc. That’s why I hate a lot of these award ceremonies because it’s not about really trying to award something on its merit, but rather politics, trends and popularity, and behind the scenes promises, etc. Just like politicians.

I think it’s game over. I saw The Brutalist at the NYFF and saw Conclave last night. Adrian Brody definitely is winning.

Dune 2 easily the best movie of the year. Really hoping the Oscar's give it some love.

conclave is disappointingly anti catholic and predictably so.

I found the ending of Conclave offensive. *SPOILERS* They basically elected a woman to be the pope??? Really.
