So do you need to run power and negative to the camera positive and negative I guess I was thinking those are not from the stereo itself

For which camera?
@quillen7659 Жыл бұрын
@Reel Hooker Fishing & Outdoor Adventures so I have the kenwood dmx1057xr and the kenwood 720 HD rear view. It comes with the red and black power ground wire, I assumed the red went to CAM+ and the black went to CAM-. then of course run reverse wire to reverse power. But I wanted to be able to toggle to rear camera while not in reverse. But so far I have no picture at all! 🫥

@@quillen7659 are you using the idatalink maestro to retain vehicle features and settings?
@balbadesha38008 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin. I can try disconnecting the switch but ideally I would like to retain the rear camera along with the front (not fussed with switch if I can use the NAV button. Do you only have front view camera or do you have rear as well. I will contact Kenwood but I do find them very little help other than replying with a link to area of manual for the camera. I need help from Technical Deptford to get me going and not be directed to a page number in a manual. I do appreciate your help and advice -Thanks Kevin

Fantastic installation Kevin, I got an auto-electrician to fit a DNN9250DAB and Multi-view Camera CMOS-320 which comes with the switch but we can't get the front view camera to work or adjust; don't know what's gone wrong. I have a Reverse Camera (not Kenwood) which works when reversing. Any help why the front does not work will be appreciated. Thanks

+Bal Badesha It's hard to say without seeing how you're wired. But I don't use the switch that was with the camera because the head unit controls the front camera. I initially tried to use the switch because that was what the directions said to do but then gave up on it and plugged it directly into the head unit to control the camera. Around 1:30 in my video I do the wiring for the camera. Check and see if the person who installed it did it the same way. Then go to the setup screen and configure the front camera.

+Kevin Harris - Unfortunately I don't have access to the rear of the Head Unit as my skills don't allow me to take the dash apart. The switch does not give me any access, it's as though it doesn't work at all. I tried pressing & holding the NAV button which gives me just one view of the front. Going into SETUP screen and selecting CMOS-310 for front view switches to front view with a message at the bottom of the screen TEST. Pressing the TEST icon highlights it and takes you straight out to previous SETUP Screen and where I had selected CMOS-310 it reverts to OFF. It does the same if I select OTHER instead of CMOS-310 and goes through same process. It is so annoying as this should be so straight forward being plug & Play!I have looked on Amazon for reviews of this camera, there was one that had negative feedback saying the camera does not work with a touchscreen. I am just wondering if perhaps it is the switch that does not work with a touchscreen as clearly your front view works with a touchscreen. Kevin is your Reverse camera a different brand to Kenwood?

I had the same problems you are describing when I tried using the switch that came with the camera. Only after I disconnected the switch was I able to get everything to work. It may be because the 992 and the 9250 have a front camera video cable and the head unit switches the view rather than the provided switch. I would contact whomever installed it and have them disconnect the rear camera and try it without. You could also email or call Kenwood Support and see if they know of a solution. The rear camera I have is the camera that came from the factory for the Ram 3500.

First off thank you for overview my main concern was if that power unit was needed I bought mine off ebay. Same model. I have 2 Questions. 1. Did you utilize the external "thumb remote" for the camera? 2. Do you also have a Kenwood for rear or other camera.
@MrZukiman1nc8 жыл бұрын
Mark L. Tucker if it's the same model camera and head unit then the thumb remote isn't used. The head unit will completely control the camera. I have the OEM camera from Ram. Using the iDatalink interface stuff allows it to utilize all the OEM functions and equipment.

Nice video! Can you watch the rear view camera while driving? Or only when it's in reverse?
@MrZukiman1nc8 жыл бұрын
+Roy BM Yes you can. You hold down the Nav button to manually turn it on and if you want the front camera you can toggle it on as well.
