This lineup was kicking major rock ass back in those early 90's!

Yeah, they were. Warren Hayes and Allen Woody were the guys who did Duane Allman and Berry Oakley justice. I was fortunate to see this lineup of the band in concert, and it was terrific! RIP Gregg, Dickey, Butch and Allen...

It's easier to do the volume swells if you put your pickup selector in the middle. Set your bridge volume where you want it, then set the neck volume at zero and curl your pinky around the knob. Pluck the note and turn the knob up quickly. It is probably the way Dickey did it back in the old days, and it's a lot easier than trying to reach the volume knob for the bridge pickup.

Dickie, Duane, and Warren all use mainly their neck p.u.. on the bright side of a Plexi and the signature sound was from the JBL D120’s, grit from the metal dust cap but not much distortion from the amp, great sustain. Warren uses all three settings more the Dickie ever did and of course different amps. Derrick gets a pretty good drive cranking his Super Reverbs and he use to use Pyle speakers for a different tone and better break up (don’t know if he still uses Pyle though). 🤠🤠🤠🤠 this is the best Southern Rock band of all time….

Warren Haynes in 92 should’ve been one of the bosses on guitar hero 3. Or Dickey betts. But more people and guitar players need to discover and listen to more Warren Haynes. 🎸

is Elizabeth Reed just a name on a tombstone or a mistress code name?we may never know but whatever the inspiration came from ,my ears thank you

The story goes that Dickey scored with a woman near the grave of Elizabeth Reed at the famous cemetery in Macon. The song is a tribute to the woman, not Elizabeth Reed, per se. If memory serves, the woman was Indian or something... which inspired the feel to the song. So the story goes.... In an interview once, someone asked Duane about it and he kind of joked about it and it hurt Dickey’s feelings

Liz Reed is just a name on a tombstone. It can be easily found in Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, GA. It is down by the railroad tracks that run adjacent to the river. Beautiful spot not too far from where the Brothers are buried. If you look at their memorials, Reed is up the road to your right. So to answer your question, it is just a name on a tombstone near the railroad tracks. It’s pretty remote and where the band could hang out without creating a disturbance in a small, conservative town.

Dickey had Camilla, Boz Scaggs girlfriend, at the cemetery while Boz was out of town on tour. Dickey was really into this woman and wrote the song for her but was afraid to use her name so he used the name on the tombstone they were hanging out on at Rose Hill cemetery in Macon.

The music is always good. They did seem to have a slight miscue, but it happens to everybody, sometimes. Anyway, to me this was some of the best vocals of Ramblin Man I have heard them sing. Haynes is not just a phenomenal guitar player, he sings some fine, high harmony, also.
