Sad story about Robert Loggia, the reason why his role in the Sopranos was so short was because he was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s and he couldn’t remember his lines. I remember hearing that story on Talking Sopranos podcast. Great actor, I remember him from Scarface and Big, he had a small (but great) role in An Officer and a Gentleman which I hope you two will watch soon if you haven’t.

Curb Your Enthusiasm was the show he was watching. A hilarious series. The co-creator of Seinfeld plays a fictionalized version of himself. It started in 2000. Its final Season starts this month. Truly funny. The actors are given a storyline and they make up the lines to get from point A to point B. But that's a behind the scenes thing. You'd never know it wasn't a dialogue scripted show when you watch it.

Dominic Chianese (Junior) said in an interview that when James Gandolfini said the line, “Don’t you love me?” he couldn’t hold back the tears, and he wasn’t told to cry in the script. He still can’t talk about that scene without crying. Gandolfini was going through some tough times during that season, and the whole cast and crew really loved him. ❤

When Junior was confused about whether or not he saw himself on the television, the images on the TV were from another HBO show at the time called Curb Your Enthusiasm. It was starring Larry David, who became famous in the 90's for writing and producing a popular show called Seinfeld. Curb Your Enthusiasm would be a good series to react to. It's a very lighthearted and clever comedy.

I wouldn't be surprised if he knew he was starting to have mental issues. Most dementia patients do to some degree. At least for awhile. Used to work security in a dementia ward at a nursing home and those places are horrifying to put it mildly. Alot of them knew they had dementia, some even apologized in between bouts of unhinged or violent behavior. Others were pretty much vegetables who would literally walk up and down the same hallway for 12 straight hours until they literally collapsed and then you had the violent ones who had to have personal security guards escorting them everywhere at all times to keep them from assaulting staff, throwing people out of wheelchairs and worse. No matter what their promotional info might say for nursing homes what picture the staff might want you to have of them, those places are absolute nightmares that I wouldn't put my worst enemy in That said, if you have any friends of family members that might need to be in such a place in the future, take my advice and be very careful about vetting what goes on when family members aren't around and make a point of randomly showing up without warning the staff first from time to time. What happens when family members are around is frequently very different from the reality of how things really are when there aren't any witnesses around
