You should do We Are Marshall next. It's based on the true story about the Marshall University Football team who had to re-create the football program from scratch after Southern Airways Flight 932, the plane the football team was on, crashed into a hill, killing 37 players, 8 members of the coaching staff, and 25 boosters on November 14, 1970. Today, Marshall University plays this film for freshmen during their orientation, calling their story an "Ashes to Glory" story. The Ashes being the plane crash, the glory being their ability to rise above it. This isn't in the movie because it happened long after it premiered, but sadly, Reggie, who was the youngest on the team at the time (he wasn't on the plane because he was injured), died a few years ago due to a fall at his house. In life, he went on interviews telling the story, not wanting this tragedy to be forgotten. It's an important story because it shows how a football team who lost nearly everyone, triumphed over tragedy.

As someone from SoCal, Sunshine ☀️ was always one of my favorites! 🥰 And no he’s not Eddie Redmayne from Fantastic Beasts, the actors name is Kip Pardue. The reason Sunshine kissed Bertier was to get him off his back, he called him a fruit cake earlier so that was his way of getting him to shut up 🤭 And yes that was Hayden Panettiere as the little girl! Seeing you guys react to this makes me want to see your reaction to The Help… such a good movie! ☺️

The actual TC Williams team that the movie was based on was unfairly good. They were 13-0 and with 9 of those wins being shut outs. They out scored their opponents 356-45 throughout the season including a 27-0 win in the state championship game where the other team was held to -5 yards of offense the whole game.

What was the atmosphere like there regarding racism? Did kids resent having to watch this in school? I'm in my 30s and grew up in Southern California, in a neighborhood with basically every race. But my mom sent me to a "better" high school an hour away, in an all-white area, and they had their own KKK. It was ridiculous. I'm white, so I blended in, but I hated seeing all the Nazi crap and the teachers acting like it was normal. I loved this movie growing up. I wished my mom would become open minded like some of the characters.

Lol no. Nothing funnier than women trying to act like they know anything about guys going by some random feminist narrative. He did it so that the rest of the guys stopped joking about it unless they wanted the same treatment. He got the result he wanted, because nobody kept teasing him about it after and focused on him as an actual individual.

@@bura19 Not really. But I see you're a woman as well. Trying to "get" guys in the same idiotic way incels act like they know how women feel and interact and all their motives. It's way different to make someone question their masculinity than to simply make them uncomfortable. Say a straight woman kisses a gay guy, and he feels uncomfortable, it's not his sexuality or anything else being put to test. He simply won't like it since he doesn't like women, and he'll avoid being put into the same position again. Love a good sports movie this is definitely at the top of the list the story was very touching, and with the time period you get to watch both sides start to understand and respect each other them having to touch that field together and trust each other is what makes the movie so good because like it or not your team is your family 👏🏾

Gosling is a linebacker or safety, definitely defense. Gerry called Sunshine a "fruitcake" or something like that when he first saw him. In the 1960s being called a fruit was being called gay. So, Sunshine is teaching him a lesson. Sunshine is trying to get that play in his head.

The real Herman Boone was fired from his coaching job after he was accused of getting into physical fights with his players whenever they refused to play.
