I only recently watched the film for the first time and it is undoubtedly FANTASTIC! Reese was incredible, but Joaquin was simply phenomenal! Im extremely happy he has his Oscar now, very well deserved for his role in Joker, however he should have won it for this film too! He was breathtaking. im pretty surprised Reese won but not him. His role was far more complex and (my personal bias aside because I am in love with Joaquin) he was so authentic and mind blowing in his performance. Its been like 14 years but im still upset he didn't win.

It was right that Reese won if only because of the woman she was portraying and I imagine that figured into the decision greatly if not mostly, but still, Reese had to actually learn how to sing and record an entire album AS June Carter before they even made the film. Felicity didn't have it any harder than Witherspoon did. Each had great challenges but it's the honoring of June Carter that won out. That was the right thing to do.
