@@johnparktowers1750You clearly didn't watch the game and are talking directly out your azz. Since I did watch the game, allow me to correct your ignorance. Canada had a free kick just outside the Peru penalty area. This linesman was covering the Canadian defensive half. ALL of Peru's team would have been in and around their own 18 yard box. So, the closest Peru player would have been 50+ yards away. Crepeau would have been well out of his goal, so was likely only 20 yards away. The next closest players would have been the Canadian "defenders" (not actually defenders, since Defenders go forward for free kicks since they tend to be tall), which is why we see Liam Miller come over, even though he's a winger. Oh, and it happened in front of the Canadian section, which is why you don't see or hear any Peruvian fans despite them massively outnumbering our own. The Peruvian players were dirty af all game, and should have had 2 players sent off instead of just the one. But that doesn't justify inventing a story about this particular incident. In the future, if you don't know the details, do everyone a favor and STFU!

Everyone is sitting, drinking cool fluids, and wearing lighter colors that reflect the heat. Meanwhile the referee is in black and having to run all over, and doesn’t appear to have water on him at all. Local fans may be somewhat adapted to the weather, but adaptation can’t overcome physics! The Midwest USA can get very hot in summer, but it’s made MUCH worse by the high humidity: the temperature around the time this happened was 94°F/33°C, and with the humidity (62%) it felt closer to 98°F/37°C. Humidity that high also means sweating just doesn’t work as well to cool someone down, so it’s even easier to overheat. Honestly, having the game at 17:00 was idiotic and it’s surprising more people didn’t have issues. In Los Angeles we have a drier heat, and still often start our summer games around 19:00 so players aren’t running around in the sun and high heat. It’s just not safe.

Well, since it's in the US these medics probably thought first "is he insured, does his insurance level cover help on the pitch?".

Those were Canadian medical staff, and they got there pretty quick. The play was at the other end of the field, so nobody's looking at this linesman. As soon as they realized something was wrong, they ran right over. And for the record, that's not their job.

Actually in USA you can't be refused treatment on emergency care. If you get an injury, you can walk into any emergency room in USA and they will treat and stabilize you. This even in ludes transporting you to a hospital that could deal with a complex surgery. For planned care, clearly, they don't treat until insurance is lined up. Even all ambulance and emergency staff in USA, including search and rescue, first and foremost help you. And later you sort out if there is a bill , and you can apply for assistance.

@toddmacadam3888 probably team doctors were from Canada. But the paramedics was US medical staff. That game was in Kansas City.

Could not believe how many people raced out carrying bags. Our aussie rules has nothing like this it terms of quantity despite there being at least 4 times the amount of people on the field. Having said that our players and support staff are looked after with the finest care.

40 seconds to before any medical person gets there....I like how the ref casually walks over and looks at his watch... "Well this is gonna add on some extra time"

Yes, good that it was so quick, many aren't so lucky.

Love it how the ref strolls over in the same way as if a player had just dived

Wow! What an overwhelming response by players and first responders. That was awesome!! What is the follow-up! It looked like heat prostration.
