Running higher end shocks usually means higher level of maintenance and care. If you have nitrogen filled shocks, you should be checking them every 6-12 months to ensure ride comfort does not diminish!

Yup! Gotta maintain your stuff!! You're right about buying your own setup being more cost effective in the long run. You'll pay anywhere from 85-100 bucks an hour on labor. Doing this yourself twice, it will pay for itself. Great vid again!!👍🏻👊🏻

If you set the pressure at 100 psi and don't check it, it will have 100 psi in it. When you release the pressure in the hose and open the schrader valve it equalizes pressure between the shock and the hose. You can also lose oil every time you bleed off that extra 50 psi.

No one, who knows anything about compressed gas bottles, would EVER EVER EVER have a bottle standing alone unattached to a post or strapped down in a cart. Look at the high pressure side reading of a full bottle. If the bottle fell and the valve snapped off, you would have missile that could EASILY KILL anyone in its path. Advice from an old welder.

JL LIFE OFFROAD it was pretty bumpy on the trail yesterday. I could’ve lowered the psi a bit more in the tires though. Really need to get the ARB Twin Air compressor. Spent 30-40 mins filling up my tires after the trail other than putting my detachable mudflaps. Pre and post trail is most of the time an hour, but I think I need to see if the shocks are good. When I swapped out the 2.5” coils for the 3.5” coils the shocks were still pretty stiff and that was about 6 months ago I think.
@JLLIFEOFFROAD4 жыл бұрын
Yea... tht twin arb gets work done fast... so does the power tank... I used to use the viair compressor.... but taking 40-50 minutes to air up was not acceptable to me

Seems like a lot of work just to add 20% nitrogen and given that you did not purge the line of air prior to filling might as well just fill with regular air.

Question, how do you know which shocks are for the front vs rear with the rrd’s? The only difference I could notice between the two pairs is the bottom mount hole is different. Does it matter which ones go on front vs rear? Thx!

Question! Did they clunk when they were low PSI? I've got a clunk from my reservoir shocks and I'm trying to figure out if its low pressure or if the seal has failed.
@JLLIFEOFFROAD2 жыл бұрын
Silly question, are the mounting bolts tight? Clunking can come from the shock if the psi is to low… the trouble shooting with tht would be checking the psi ….. if it’s low… recharge… check the psi once a week to see if it’s leaking … from there, finding the leak… Also want to make sure you are not bottoming out the shock, tht can damage parts and seals also

Can you fill your shocks while the shocks are still on your vehicle? I have easy access to the shocks but not sure that the shock length is going to be out far enough while it's still on the vehicle.
@JLLIFEOFFROAD Жыл бұрын
You can if you can reach your valve. But if it’s not extended… it will typically require a higher psi if under load… that make sense?
@johndamico9127 Жыл бұрын
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD I think I would have to take one shock off, pressurize to correct pressure, then reinstall it leaving the valve with gauge on and place back on the ground to see how much the pressure rises. based on that number I could fill the rest? I dont think there is a variance between front and rear shocks? also in the future I would have to make sure the jeep was about the same weight when I refill down the line?
@JLLIFEOFFROAD Жыл бұрын
@@johndamico9127 ideally, you want it weighted to your planned purpose. If you are typically weighted heavy for overlanding stuff… you would have a higher psi. Front and read should be the same You would be able to check the psi AFTER reinstalling the shock and still get the reading you need. Maybe I misread your post… but you don’t need to keep the reading valve on when you fill it out of the jeep and putting it back on…… unless that makes your job easier 🤷♂️ I would be worried if bang the gauge off something and break it.
@Bacardibombillo2 жыл бұрын
Do all shocks go at 100psi?... also how do you set for softer ride? .... one more Do you have to refill with shocks off the vehicle?
@JLLIFEOFFROAD2 жыл бұрын
Reaching the Schrader valve while installed in the jeep may prove extremely challenging... I recommend taking them off for ease of fill ..."softer" ride would mean less psi, but be careful. If you have to little psi, your shock will bottom out and will damage the shock.
