I was taught growing up that being gay was a choice and that I shouldn't ever talk about it because it was a dirty topic. I remember being 7 years old and playing wedding with my best friend while my other friend videoed the "ceremony" with an old flip phone. When my mom found us, we were told to delete it and given a lecture about acting appropriately. I'll never forget the way my mother looked at me with disgust, or the fear in my best friends eyes when my mom mentioned her parents finding out. I'm still a lesbian and I'm still afraid, but I will never let hate stop me from embracing the love I feel.

You will not draw them in by opening with "this is a sin that come with this consequence", you will only push them away and make them feel like enemies of the whole religion. Also, many other practices that were considered sinful are commonplace now such as divorce, but people have refrained from criticizing it because it is recognised that it is harmful to the persons state of mind and self esteem to be critical of it. Since we all know of someone who has gone through this, we can more easily relate to it, and not want people we feel akin to be harmed by such actions. So why then is it alright to harm the LGBT communities state of mind by criticizing something we feel we cannot change and is good for us even if you personally do believe it's a sin? Is there a double standard regarding some sin? Finally, while you and others may believe it is a sin to be gay, there are sects and Biblical interpretations that do not believe it is like this one: wouldjesusdiscriminate.org . Since we cannot prove beyond a doubt that your belief is any more correct than mine, we are at an impasse where we have to accept God as the only one who can judge and we can pray for mercy and guidance for each other. This is when i first met him. We were close friends very quick. He was so damaged mentally and physically that he used lots of drugs to numb himself. Looking back I would have done things so differently and intervened, tried harder, anything. Just to save his life. 3 months after his 20th birthday he overdosed on heroin and god knows what else. His birthday he seemed so alive for a change and his outlook was brighter. We joked about being able to legally drink in a year. Being that we drank all the time it was quite funny. I talked to him that Friday and he was dead on Sunday. So many things I wish i could've and should've said. Im 38 and I still miss him all these years later

Because i am living prove of that.. Listen i don't like the way more christians approach this situation. i was never given christian therapy and that says a lot coming from a being a ministers daughter. My parents although knew Gods stance on it they showed me love. My dad even went as far as going with me to West Hollywood and condemn all those crazy christians that had signs that read God Hates gays. he stood across the street and instead preached about Gods love and would not side with the radical christians. he prayed for many and the impact of love my pop recieved was awesome. But i knew it was a sin.. I did not pray away the gay.. I simply said "Jesus i choose you and will do whatever it takes to have a true relationship with you. I need you to help me change because i cannot change myself".. He not only changed my sexuality but so many other things i had carrying with me. He wants us to willing ask and have the desire to choose him over our sin, no matter what that sin is. He changes..It's called a miracle. but if a person wants their sin and God.. He cannot help anyone change if they don't want to and trying to get him to change his will to fit anyones lifestyle is a delusion. I am living proof of the change God made in me.

@@valentinogal781 I am happy for the peace you have found in your life. I've never considered my sexuality to be fluid, I knew when I was 10 that I was attracted to the opposite sex. People have different life experiences though, so who am I to judge. But I'm curious, are you going against the way god made you in the 1st place, or did you have a psychological trauma that made you attracted to the same sex? I only ask because sexuality is determined by hormones, so if you were always straight but had a period in your life when you were not, what would be the cause of that. Please excuse me if I'm over stepping boundaries, I'm a non believer so I tend to analysis things on a deeper level than just one book.

tenofivelips I only know of a few women who were straight all their lives, but they changed their sexuality to gay. One was because she was sick of being treated like shit by males. Bottom line is treat others the way you would wish to be treated, and mind your own business when it’s not your place to judge. If you’re religious you should know well that the only person allowed to pass judgment onto others is god. @@alexbennet4195 with all due respect she does love herself. I also am a Christian who is attracted to women and she’s explaining that just because you have desires for something that is wrong doesn’t mean you need to do it. We are all called to take up our cross and follow Christ. So for some it may be lying, stealing, attraction to children for the gay person it is being attracted to the same sex. Because we are sinful in nature we are going to desire things that aren’t good for us. I believe it’s okay that you are attracted to the same sex because G-d loves us all but he asks us all to surrender ourselves to Him. Even if you believe you were born that way He says that we need to be born again(John 3:3). Romans 1:25-32 explains why we sin and why we are attracted to things that G-d say is evil it’s because we love the sin more than Him. That doesn’t mean once we surrender to him we might not fall or stumble but if we walk with Him he will guide us. It also doesn’t mean we will be healed from our desires but that He will give us and teach us self control to not act upon it.

@@itsyaaveragegirl Oh sweetheart, you’re going to live a very sad and empty life, and die unfulfilled - all for what? An idea of a god that doesn’t accept the way you naturally are, and your personal wishes and desires that don’t harm, but instead enrich others - for what reason is this god so unaccepting? There literally isn’t even one - isn’t worth it. I struggle to understand this cult-like mentality of ultimate subservience to authority, not thinking for yourself, and making decisions based on, like, actual reason, and desire to make the world a better place where we want and allow others to experience happiness during their lives - but because you were told to, and free thought is bad. Yet, when this mentality exists, why are we so surprised by all the atrocities humankind has committed? I hope you are able to break away from this. Until then I pity you.

@@alexbennet4195 I am fulfilled and very happy. G-d accepts us all and loves us all but we are all called to surrender to the Most High who created us. He gives me a choice to serve Him. Just because I don’t live by my desires doesn’t mean I’m unhappy. I do think for myself, the Bible has more historical data than any other book including works from Plato and Socrates. It has withstand thousands of years written not by one author but 40 authors with cultural differences some were kings, fishermen, exiled princes, military leaders, philosophers, tax collectors, historians and even a Pharisee. And it all pointed to a sovereign G-d. The Bible is the only book that was written and assembled over a vast number of generations and still intact no other historical book can say that. The Bible is used when geologist go on digs and are looking for artifacts of the old world. The world tells us we come from fish but cannot find the missing link, the they say we evolved from non complex organisms but yet cannot tell us how. They say we evolved from apes but yet apes are still around. True Christianity is accepting of everyone and asks everyone including the gay, the sexual immoral, the liar, and the murderer to surrender. True Christianity is the only religion that tells us that it’s grace that saves us not works. So the reason why I am able not to act upon my desires is because His grace and His power not my own. It’s okay that you don’t agree with me and I’m not forcing you to but you cannot tell me that I am will be unfulfilled because I don’t live according to what you believe. Yes a lot of bad things has been done by the church but less 7% of wars fought was because of Christianity more people died at the hands of non Christians than true Christians. And let’s be clear not every person who claims to be Christian are. All those Christians who use conversion therapy are not true Christians. But I can understand your issues with the Church because I had them too. But once I started to not look at G-d through the horizontal relationships I had with people but instead the vertical relationship I had with Him I was able to understand that even Christian are sinners and will use His name to push their own agenda but the doesn’t mean He doesn’t exist or haven’t blessed me.

As a lesbian I’ll share my story, (this is really long so just go to the reply’s for TLDR and carry on with your day) I’m Christian too, but my parents are homophobic, my dad once yelled at me because I knew where the word witch came from (it was Wicca) and I told my mom I’m bi (I thought I was but I just don’t like boys) and she said “You’ll never sleep with a girl though right?” And I just said “yeah,” she also keeps pushing me to get kids, like saying “Once you get a kid you’ll love it!” And “Just have a kid!” But having a kid would block my goal in life, which is to travel the states, I’m afraid of the things they’ll do, since I also am suicidal, the day the accept me is the day I hug them and truly think that this is life, and that I finally am home, but it feels like it’ll never happen, I still have hope for a better future, and this video helps out with that, ;TLDR; closeted lesbian who is suicidal doesn’t feel home but hopes I’ll feel home soon.

Just hang on till you can get away. I know it can feel like it will always be like it is now, but so many of us have been there, but then found a place where love and joy and acceptance exist. Even a place where we can accept ourselves. So hang on.

I’m a former witch. A year ago I was suicidal when I heard God say “I have work for you to do” Since then I’ve accepted Christ and he’s made me whole. I pray you seek the Lord and find peace 🙏🏻💙
