@@Hollz_Au I agree, my old apartment was 2 bedroom near Ryerson and was $1800 in 2019, which was also great, but I had been living there for 6 years. The price has since gone up

I really love her vibe and aesthetic. I think she was able to do some really awesome yet smart things within her space to make it work for her. I love the cave like coziness of her basement bedroom. I really really dig this one. Great job.

This is literally the first "Sweet Digs" apartment in Toronto I've seen that has wowed and inspired me. So much soul and creativity in this space! More unique spaces please, it's not just shoebox high rise condos over here!

Kelsey from The Sorry Girls bought a house, renovated it, and turned it into a duplex. Is that a common thing to do in Toronto? Or in Canada in general?

It's becoming common in parts of Ontario. If you look at the chart of our housing market appreciation vs other countries, you can see houses in Canada are extremely unaffordable, however banks are easily giving out mortgages at 10% down payment. In my city (an hour away from Toronto) houses that are listed for $600k usually sell for $800k (200k ABOVE asking price, there's usually a blind bidding war). The cost of renovation can actually be added to their mortgage, so people renovate it into a duplex and that way they can afford to buy a house with the extra rental income

Loved this space. She and her friends did so many cool things to bring out her own unique style to it. Also, her bedroom reading chair is native to my country - Malawi. I get a kick out of seeing it in other places.

It is a steal. Just looking at a CBC article the average 1 bedroom went for $1651 in 2016 when she moved in. I’ve been in the neighborhood for 10.

Amazing space and amazing price. Good job not apartment jumping as you moved up in your career... if you lived in a space for 10ish years, then you're going to have good rent in Toronto. My spot is under 2K for 2 levels as well, been here for 7 years so far :)

I been wanting to move to Toronto, I was raised in NY, and this place is amazing for the price, considering what you will get in NY for double the amount. I wouldnt mind having a place like that if I ever move there. Hopefully soon.

The living room and kitchen are cool spaces. I would have kept the bedroom upstairs off of the living room, with guest room/tarot room/office downstairs, but then that would mean going downstairs every time for the bathroom- hmm.

Oh my goodness, not only is her place nice but only for $2,000. Her place would rent for AT LEAST $4,000 where I live in California. And because her style is so great, her landlord should just let her do as she pleases.🧚🏽♀️
