I'm so glad other cultures are starting to be noticed. That architect is amazing, good for him keeping the culture. Also the aunty kicking everyone's butt is so inspiring. I wish the designer would have gotten her moment.

I'm so thankful for this mini doc on our beautiful heritage, Bolivian culture will never be replicated, imitated or replaced. Evo did so much for the re-rise and respect towards indigenous communities, the Cholita did not earn her place, she CLAIMED it ♡ it was hers all along. But one thing, lets not confuse the propagandist acts of political parties with the actual rise of the culture thanks to the pueblos originarios themselves. Evo was an image to inspire, yes, but he also had bigger purposes like any other politician with snakes on his back, eventually turning into what the indigenous people never stood for. He united Bolivia only to divide it once again. I pray to Pachamama that some day we have leaders, not tyrants, who wave the flag of ALL Bolivians for the world to see & our culture is not used as a political party strategy but proudly claimed as our true heritage, safely guarded, taught to the young ones, and a permanent cultural patrimony. ❤

I am usually not so much into fashion, but I reeeally love your documentaries due to the curiousity, openness, respectfulness and kindness, with which you try to portrait the whole richness and diversity of any country. And I dream of an age, where we all live together in this open and curious spirit and enjoy and live all the beauty and diversity the human family has to offer.

Hailey is really good at this, she has the same spirit for humanity of Anthony Bourdain. She is being the eyes and ears and voice sharing the stories of the disenfranchised with all its complexities through the lens of fashion. Now more than ever this voice is sorely needed and missed. Thank you for your authentic, intelligent, brave, calm and open reporting and sharing.. Can't wait to see more.

What the organizers did was intentional, but this documentary captures such a humanistic beauty behind her, her work and her people that those Mesticos actually made her more triumphant and essential. In a time where modernity is about "fitting" into things, here Glenda is elevating her Cholita fashion and culture, this is beautiful, better than any modern fashion enterprise, this is real, humanistic, culturally profound and significant. My best wishes to Glenda and her journey as a designer, artist!

11:06 I saw a documentary on this amazing architecture years ago. It's gorgeous and wonderful. Buildings need to reflect the people and values of the country, or else we merely end up with ersatz buildings of another's...which is soul crushing and dull! The same with the beautiful cholita clothing!

also the issue is more complex than Indigenous vs Criollo (Mestizo). If it was we would not be so divided. Criollos are only around 10% of the population. Aymara matters, Quechua matters and all the tribes of the Bolivian Amazon matter.

Are the prices she's saying in US dollars or the Bolivia dollar? They intentionally sabbotage Glenda's show! I'm in the fashion industry and run a full service fsshion production company and I know political and racist sabbotage when I see it. How they treated her was BS and the whole show starting four hours late was also trifling, unprofessional and political. Outside of a act of Nature (or crisis), there's no way a major fashion show in NY, Paris, Italy... would have started one hour late let alone two or four hours late.

WAIT… “governed by the Inca”?? the Aymara were the competing mayor culture pre-colonization. the Quechua (Inca) are still the only other culture called Chola in La Paz. Indios are usually the smaller tribes, that used to be governed by Quechuas or Aymara. i can see this is sincere, but it feels weird now. -ok. it’s improving quickly.

Some "mestizo" speak with indigenous accent some have neutral accent and even others have foreign accents (argentinian, english, brazilian) but no one talks spanish accent from Spain. Between the indigenous there are also a variety of accents depending the region, the eastern ones have camba accent (tropical indigenous related to guaranies and amazonic) the western indigeous that are quechua, aymara and the southern ones, "chapacos" that speak slow and singing, the northern are very few, I don't know their accent. Bolivia is very diverse culturally.

As a Bolivian mestiza I don't claim this reversed racism bullshit. Not when we still benefit from colorism and years of inherited wealth. Yes maybe evo did worsen the friction between this two groups but you in no way can call that racism! That's just stupid and embarrassing.
