Subhaanallah! I was anxious to find out if our Imams will have the courage to discuss this issue. But I was dismayed not to see anyone discussing it. It was finally a relief to see Shaykh Yasir tackling it with his sense of wisdom and knowledge. May the Almighty bless him immensely. He is indeed a treasure of our community. I would say to him: jazaakallahu khairan.

I am a 26 year old male. I would say there is nuance in the divide. More sisters are upset by this - I along with a lot of other brothers were happy by the decision. We need to remember we are Muslims first, every other identity comes second to that and needs to be in line with Islamic morals and doctrine. The reality is they have now begun to seriously target Muslim youth and are becoming very successful in subverting our values and doctrines.

I completely disagree that this is only an issue of youth. 90% are at least 30 years. Linda Sarsour, who works the hardest to promote this pro fahisha value system is 42 years old. Ilhan Omar, Rachida Tlaib, these are not 20year old college kids. Our youth promote these values because the adults on the highest pedestals in our institutions are rewarded for promoting them as well The message that our young people are getting is that if you get popular you can promote any value you want and our institutions will reward you with a platform to preach it from and awards for preaching it

Were for Prohibited shari'a in some states and dance in Zina events with people who are worser than people who practice incest. Thne the one ilhan do adultery and then "married" the guy she was having the affair with, an Christian idolater... she lives in fornication day in and day out but none of these preachers publicly criticize her for her actions and let her go straight to hell with it. .. yes she brings a "blessing", even if their actions are haram. it seems to me that many in the US and Canada are so scared and willingly submit to anticipatory obedience. In Islamic law men can’t just abandon their children. They have to provide for their children even if the children are living with their mothers after divorce. They also have to pay a stipend to the mothers for looking after their children. So a Muslim man can’t just abandon his children no matter what the reason is for the divorce. And I don’t think divorce is as rampant in Muslim community as others.

As Muslims we need to be vociferously independent of the dialectic over this debate in America. Even with the array of opinions amongst our fuqaha over 1400 years on this issue, none of the madhahib line up neatly with the pro-lifer or pro-choice arguments as they’ve come to be in the US in 2022. Our beliefs on the beginning of life and permissibility of terminating a pregnancy do not line up uniformly with either side of this fight.

السلام عليكم ورحمه الله Correct. We are so weak , humiliated and divided that we are looking everywhere else for a foundation. We flee to the west , fleeing oppression in historically Muslim areas, then criticize the west while pretending to reject. The prophet salallahu alayhi wa salaam spoke the truth about the corruption and confusion. May Allah help us.
@resentfuldragon
@resentfuldragon 2 жыл бұрын
that is incorrect completely. It is a known fact that unless you have a serious reason you can't terminate the child. We know that pre-birth the soul is blown into the kid and that we aren't allowed to kill our kids out of fear. We align with pro-life, its just that there are very few exceptions. We can't afford to be wishy-washy in this age, we need a hard stance or we will drift towards haram. Islam forbid the killing of kids when it came, and we define kids to include unborn ones!!!! Anyone who terminates a pregnancy without reason has killed something ALLAH (SWT) has willed for them, they are being ungrateful to the blessing they were given!!!!

Invisible Danger To understand the liberal secularist and feminist project in the Muslim world, one needs to revisit the British colonization of Egypt. Evelyn Baring, better known as Lord Cromer, was the British Proconsul-General in occupied Egypt between 1877 and 1907. He wrote about his tenure in his book "Modern Egypt" (1916). Here are some conclusions from his book: 1.The West will not tolerate an Islamic government. On page 565, he said that it would be "absurd" to assume that Europe would tolerate a "government based on purely Mohammedan principles and obsolete Oriental ideas." 2. Muslims must be forced to adopt the principles of Western civilization. On page 538, he said that Egypt had to be "forced into imbibing the true spirit of Western civilization." 3. Westernization must be introduced under the guise of women's rights. Lord Cromer says that the "position of women" in Muslim countries was a "fatal obstacle" in the introduction of colonial values. (page 539) 4. The West must educate a class of young secular Muslims to be the rulers. Cromer's hope was that a Europeanized education system would cause an Egyptian to "lose his Islamism", cause him to "no longer believe that he is always in the presence of his Creator", and only hang onto "the least worthy portions of his nominal religion" for the sake of convenience. (page 230) 5. The West must reform Islam. Cromer says that the goal should be to create "de-moslemized Moslems", where people are Muslims-by-name, but in actuality, are "agnostic". After all, Cromer says, "Islam cannot be reformed ... reformed Islam is Islam no longer." (pages 228-229) 6. The Muslim reformer would hate Muslim scholarship more than Europeans do. The Westernized Muslim would consider the `alim to be a "social derelict", use him in matters of convenience, but otherwise disrespect him. On the other hand, a European Christian intellectual would at least look at the `alim with sympathy and respect, as a "representative of an ancient faith". (page 299-30) 7. Modernized Muslims will become Deists. "It is conceivable that, as time goes on, the Moslems will develop a religion, possibly a pure Deism, which will not be altogether the Islamism of the past and of the present, and which will cast aside much of the teaching of Mohammed, but which will establish a moral code sufficient to hold society together by bonds other than those of unalloyed self-interest." (page 234) ----------- We can see therefore that Islamic reform started as a colonial project. A project that has been devilishly designed by European intellectuals to undermine the clerics, introduce secular humanist institutions, and gradually and inconspicuously lead Muslims away from the central tenets of their tradition. They knew that this reformed, liberal Muslim would not be a Muslim at all, but just a Europeanized invertebrate (i.e., a spineless being) who would maneuver the religion to his needs. This seven-step process is exactly what is happening to Muslim youth in the West and in the east also because of technology (social media, Netflix, music, fashion, Secular education, TV). They volunteer themselves to Western academia and pop culture and are led away from a truly Islamic worldview and epistemology. And while they fool themselves into calling themselves "Muslim reformers", or "Muslim feminists", or "moderate Muslims", or "liberal Muslims", their puppet masters know that these are all contradictions in terms. Times change, but right remains right, and wrong remains wrong.

As a muslim woman, I'm not upset that I won't be able to abort a fetus because I'm focused on career and timing is wrong or because I don't have money to raise a child. No. Rather, as a woman, my reason for being upset with overturning Roe v. Wade is that if few months from now, or say when I'm nearing my 40s and I get pregnant in which the pregnancy is a serious risk to my life, and I consult local imam as well as my doctor both deciding that abortion is islamically permissible and necessary for me in order to preserve my life, AND I happen to live in a state that has banned abortions at all costs or prosecutes doctors who perform abortions even when medically necessary, then I as a Muslim married woman, will not be able to pursue a medical procedure that Allah made permissible in my unique and life threatening circumstance. THIS is the issue with not constitutionally preserving the right to abortion in a country whose basis is separation of church and state. As Muslims, we educate our communities on Allah's rulings regarding abortion. That is our role. Our role isn't to support its unconditional ban. I've come across many women who have to get treatment for infertility but I've never come across Muslim married woman who've said they got an abortion because she was too young, or her husband and her weren't financially ready. Most Muslim couples welcome a child even if it is unplanned because alhumdulilah as a community we have this understanding that a child is a blessing from God. So yes we continue to pass on this message to the youth AND at the same time engage in discussions with our nonmuslim friends, classmates, neighbors, and colleagues on why abortion without a medical reason is immoral. However, removing access to abortion through LAW takes away EVERY woman's right to whom Allah granted right because she's in an exceptional circumstance. On another note, the fahishat will not end by Muslims supporting an abortion ban. Premarital sex will continue nonetheless, abortions will occur nonetheless by women using harmful means to terminate pregnancies on their own in private, as it used to occur before Roe v. Wade. This absolutely puts the burden on the woman. It absolutely discriminates against the woman. The man will do his deed and be on his way. The woman suffers with the consequences: medical, emotional, financial, and social. What will decrease fahishat is us spreading Allah's message, not on rulings, but rather about his love, mercy, forgiveness, generosity etc. We know from the order of revelation that Allah did not immediately ban all immoral acts. Rather, Allah swt sent ayat of His attributes and His oneness. Allah tallah drew in people towards him through love, not through rulings. Likewise, we cannot expect that a Muslim's support for an abortion ban will bring a non-Muslim close to this deen. It's our discussions, our actions of humility, generosity, and compassion that will draw a non-muslims interest into Islam. I am in no way suggesting we compromise on our deen to win over someone's support. Never. But rather we teach our communities and nonmuslims that hey Islam is the middle path. It has a moderate and practical stance on everything. But if I support an abortion ban from the moment of conception (which pro life people support) no matter the circumstance, then this is not true to Islam. This is extremism, and not the moderate Islam Allah sent for us.

No pro-life individual would protest against rape, incest or dangerous pregnancies leading to abortions. I dare you to find one pro-life individual who is against abortions due to dangerous pregnancies, or ones due to rape or incest. Just one. And most southern states have exemptions for those cases. You're just making up some weird strawman that simply doesn't exist. Second, the Shaykh even said that most abortions don't even fall in those categories above.

Is it necessary to do Sunnah and Fard prayers immediately after each other, or is it permitted to space them out throughout the period. E.g. if Asr prayer is from 3:00pm - 6:00pm would it be permissible to pray the first 4 sunnah at 3:00pm and then go about your day and come back and finish the 4 fard at say 5:00pm? The main issue here isn't whether abortions are haram or halal or whether the sexual revolution was good. The main issue is whether states should be imposing a religious position on people. I may believe a fetus at 120 days is a human being, but since this is my religious position, I shouldn't use the coercive power of government to punish people who don't believe the same thing. If Muslims in USA were to have a collective position on this as a legal issue, it must be in favor of dissestablishment of religion, i.e. separation of church and state. I'd also hope that Shaykh Yasir would publish how he came up with the statistics related to reasons for abortions. I personally don't want governments investigating women's decisions on terminating their pregnancies under the shadow of potential incarceration, so it would not matter to me whether the percentage of justifiable abortions, however you define it, are lower or higher.

It's not religious for everybody. For some people its a baby and you shouldn't kill it. And we all know what the majority of abortions are being done for. This is old information. As old as this worn out abortion topic lol now I agree with you on the state making certain decisions that they shouldn't make. But I felt this way about vaccine and mask mandates. I guarantee the majority of these pro abortionists supported those mandates and the state enforcing those. So it is what it is. The state will enforce this too.

States have elected officials - the elected officials generally reflect the majority of that states's population - if your state does not align with your personal views to the point of one feeling oppressed, they can always move to another state that is better aligned. In essence in the United States, it is the people, the society that decides what laws we impose on each other - religious and otherwise. As muslims - our vote should always as much as possible support and reflect islamic ideals and values. IF Muslims in the USA were to have a collective position on this as a legal issue - it must be in accordance to the Quran and Sunnah. And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin. Al-Isra 17:31 Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves1 - [the angels] will say, "In what [condition] were you?" They will say, "We were oppressed in the land." They [the angels] will say, "Was not the earth of Allāh spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?" For those, their refuge is Hell - and evil it is as a destination. An-Nisa 4:97 Fighting has been made obligatory upon you ˹believers˺, though you dislike it. Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Only if there is rape or the child has deformity and in that case too it should be consulted with a doctor and sheikh. Can’t abort only because one has no money.

@@nafeesahnasreen7473 a baby’s deformity doesn’t make abortion halal. It’s up to Allah Subhanuwatala who He is gonna sustain and who He isn’t. We aren’t supposed to play His role. If I listened to my doctors then I would have missed the precious time Allah Subhanuwatala has blessed me with my now 9 year old son. Yes, we have challenges but that brought me closer to my Creator and made me appreciate the blessings(such as a well functioning body) I have. Alhamdulillah

I don't think the government should have the right to tell people what they can and cannot do with their bodies. It is up to us as individuals to understand what is right and wrong in Islam, but we cannot force other people to follow what we are following. We could say the same thing about religious freedom; imagine if the governments just decided that it was illegal to practice Islam. Also, we should realize that Islam's stance on abortion is a lot more relaxed than the rules that these ultra conservative leaders are coming up with, so you can realize that there are many cases in which Islam will allow an abortion while the state governments may not. Therefore it is my opinion that we should let women have the freedom over their bodies but teach our Muslim population our shariah and hope that they follow it. Anything beyond that is between them and Allah.

The goverment is not tell king people anything there just leaving for the states to decide. In islam there are only 3 exceptions for abortion, the first being raped, terminate the pregnancy within the first 40 days or if the danger to the mother is life threatening. All 3 exceptions r very rare. As a Muslim we should be by default against it and not go out and support the baby killers instead stand by and let non-Muslims deal with it while we as a community avoid dealing with the problem entirely

It's not only about religion, even in secular atheist societies it's highly immoral to allow abortions after few weeks when the baby is clearly a living human being, even in Europe and other secular countries around the world abortion is prohibited after a few weeks, it's only China and U.S where the door is completely open and you can have abortion until the moment of birth, the leftwing media has brainwashed great number of people to support this and it's wrong

Letting aside Islam, it is also a society and ethical issue. The baby is a separate human being so saying they should be free with their body is questionable in the case of abortion. In itself from a secular perspective it is not consistent to say before x amount of weeks it is not an infanticide it s a right and then from the next very day it becomes a crime. So people who have no religion mostly they will follow the prevalent culture of their country but some of them may find that illogical.... And from a country to another the period to abort is different so putting a legal landmark on a life (a heartbeat) is quite peculiar in itself, they just got used in western countries or they have been blinded by the shahawaat to the point of becoming inconsistent in their way of life.
