Hi @Ben thanks a lot for the tutorials. Everything works for my user, but my issue comes when I have other users trying to push the refresh button: it won't work for them. One of them is PBI Pro user, the others have the standard O365 account (no paid PBI Pro). They are added as 'Run only users' in the Power Automate flow. Would you know what's the cause?

Hi, hmm, I wonder which account this uses, looks like it is the account of the user who is logged in. What happens if you make one of these users an owner? It might be too much permissions but at least it will start the troubleshooting process.

hi@@BenHoward_PowerBI thanks a lot for your response. Yes, I tried adding him as Owner of the Flow, but it didn't make a difference. The button will not work for him. I found a workaround by using a HTTP request flow for this, but for that I had to upgrade to a Power Automate Premium Trial as that type of flow requires that.. it seems that O365 is a box of surprises :P So I would prefer to figure out what's failing in the 'normal' method that you describe in your video.

Great approach! Thank you for sharing ! I was wondering if I need to use Gateway in this scenario?
@BenHoward_PowerBI3 жыл бұрын
Whether you need a gateway or not depends on your dataset. If it is cloud based, then typically you don't need a gateway, if it is on-premise, then you definitely do need a gateway.

@@BenHoward_PowerBI Hi Ben , thank you very much for your reply . I am not that experienced yet , just learning and practicing with various techniques, so my questions might sound dumb, but I okey with that :). I was wondering if you could give your feedback on my situation . I have a data stored on cloud aws SQL server and I have published Power BI report in PBI service ( with imported data source) . I can only refresh my dataset and report via personal Gateway running on my laptop. Hence is my question, if your hack can be used in my scenario? I guess before asking I should have tried it first. I would appreciate if you could share your view or experience in this context . Thank you

@@Turbo_PilotSky Hi, This is not a hack, it is a valid way of initiating a refresh. Whether or not you need a gateway has nothing to do with this feature, a refresh is either initiated manually from the dataset, automatically by setting a schedule on the data, or using a button in the Power BI report. The point is, as you already know, you need a gateway (either personal or enterprise) to refresh from SQL hosted on AWS.

Hi!, I have a question, how can I handle an automatic flow using the status variable of the refresh dataset? I want to send me a mail just in success cases.

Let's be specific, what doesn't work. The concept of the refresh button will work regardless of where the is located.

Hi Ben. Very nice video. I have a couple of questions. 1) I've seen another videos doing the same, but they use an API instead. ¿There is some difference on that? 2) I would like to skip the 48-times per day limitation. Power BI documentation says “On-demand refreshes are not included in the refresh limitation”.¿There is a possibility to do that using a button?
@BenHoward_PowerBI3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marc, If you let me know the video URL I'll have a look. Re the limitation of 48, anything initiated by the API or using this method counts towards the 48 limit.
