Refreshing and resealing a big single cyl 4 strokes : 3/4

Ive allways thought the rubber sucker on a stick was a hard way to rotate a valve, i wonder if a hard drive magnet on a stick would slip less, the head servo magnets are really strong. You got a nice grey line, textbook :-D, and new stem seals are allways a good idea, even if they are not worn. The second valve keepers just didnt want to play the game did they, CLUNK!!. Im supprsed the doggy didnt get wet through in that river/brook, dogs and water lol.

The rubber works pretty good on a clean smooth valve. i've used that method on really clean valves for my bmw k75 and it sticked to them really well. Here we did that quite fast,on the week end,so we did not spent the time to polish and make them to shine. I think magnets would be very good : ) at worst the valve would stick to the valve seat lol She went in the water,but just the paws : ) The water was 7 °C in august... it came directly from a glacier above,so they were not too crazy about having a bath lol

LOL i dont blame the dog, cold paws, no no, brrrrrrrr ccccccold. You could be right about the valve sticking to the seat slightly, i do say and think some silly things sometimes, well most of the time lol. Perhaps a normal magnet ripped from a small speaker, oooow the brain never stops LOL :-D

Your video will be useful. I need to replace the cylinder head on my XT600E as i had a broken exhaust stud and tried to remove it but just made it worse, so seems less hassle to just replace the cylinder head.

If you can install new valve seals and lap the valves it's a good thing : )
