refurbished: vintage Mulitplex ASK 18 model airplane

Nach einer Grunderneuerung insbesondere des Rumpfes sieht meine kleine 1,50-m-ASK-18 von Multiplex aus dem Jahre 1996 wieder aus wie frisch aus dem Karton gepellt.
Viele Jahre lag sie unbeachtet im Keller, und jetzt darf sie wieder zum Spielen raus, nachdem ich ihr zusätzlich einen BL-Antrieb in die Nase verpflanzt habe.
Die Flugeigenschaften sind mit dem alten Jedelsky-Flügel sehr angenehm, wobei das Modell nur über Höhe und Seite gesteuert wird. Was für ein schöner kleiner Oldie!
Die Musik habe ich über Cubase 10.5 mit einem Korg Wavestate Synthesizer eingespielt. Drumsounds stammen aus dem Wavestate sowie aus der Cubase-Library, und das E-Piano ist ein betagtes Technics PX-55.

I refurbished my old Multiplex ASK-18 from the year 1996. Especially the fuselage needed a complete workover, but now it looks like freshly peeled out of the box.
The 1,50-m-glider airplane had been lying around unregardedly for so many years, and now it finally gets to play outside again. Therefore, I installed a 60-g-BL outrunner and a modern RC. The ASK flies very nice and smooth with its old Jedelsky-profiled balsa wing. What a joyful vintage airplane!
I recorded the music using cubase 10.5 and a Korg Wavestate synthesizer. Drumsounds are from Wavestate too, and from cubase library. The electric piano is a vintage Technics PX-55.

Perfekt umgesetzter Neuaufbau 👍🏻 Ich habe noch einen Multiplex Motorspatz (ebenfalls Jedelsky) im Keller liegen. Den werde ich demnächst auch mal zum Leben erwecken 😊. Das Modell war damals einfach zu schwer mit seinem Speed 400 Getriebeantrieb und den NC Zellen.

Pretty plane and with simple airfoil flies real nice. I was under the impression that you always need a zbend in the control rods....it was wrong. Thanks for sharing!!

As long as there's some sideways-tension in the wire to keep the L-bend into their ruder arms, there's no problem wit this kind of link. Of course it is just a solution for lightweight models, where the forces are low. If you don't need it to be taken apart, just add a little drop of UHU por all over the joint. It will stay flexible and doesn't disturb the movement - the dried glue even eleminates the slightest play between the rod and the hole. If needed, you can peel away the glue at any time and take the rod out with no effort.

Super-schöne Präsentation. Das Modell von Multiplex kannte ich gar nicht; lag aber auch zwischen meiner ersten und zweiten Modellbauphase. UND mit dem Rad zum Segelfliegen: Mache ich auch am allerliebsten:-)

Ja, die Klassiker..... .....zeigen uns immer, dass früher Vieles anders war.... ....und dann merkt man, dass man das Wort "früher" benutzt und stellt fest, dass man auch schon ein paar Jahre auf dem Buckel hat. Aber egal, oder?
