for the arp presets, you have to disable the arp tab AND the trancegate in the modifiers or each layer that has it. like the aegisynth has lfo automation with the arpeggio so u have turn both off. also, the entire point of nexus 5 is to completely be able to modify presets, which wasnt possible before.

Most Arp are there to inspire, I agree with you; you cant use them cause eveyone will use the same Arp song ...so they are very good for that moment when you just wanna Jam out and Practice ...

This why you have to use the Favorite button while going thru the factory presets, cause its true a lot sound the same and I also get bored searching for usable presets, can yoy Roll Back to Nexus 4 ? ..unti they fix that bug and can u delete the preset you dont want cause those unusable presets are just taking space

@@vender3516 the bug has been fixed in version 5.1.3. I made another livestream a couple of days ago about it. It's completely fixed.

I've temporarily moved away from software synths as I found myself too often manipulating/tweaking presets to achieve tones, rather than rolling my own, as it were, from scratch. Let's see how long this lasts. I'm currently using my Jupiter Xm daily for sound design. It had been gathering dust so I've forced myself into this. I plan to attempt a full recreation using just the Xm. I reckon it's doable.

​@@LightShadow Well, like Julian showed you, the new factory presets basically aren't new at all. Most are just rehashes of older presets, and why do they all sound frustratingly similar? It was quite depressing going through them and listening to the same synth bass over and over again and useless arp / sequence patch. Almost insulting. And the upgraded VST is alright yeah, but it's not really something that can't already be done elsewhere with a better UI. I guess I was expecting the new VST to come with some exciting new sounds to show off its leap forward, but there was no leap forward in terms of sound design with this upgrade. If the new functionality is so game-changing, why do most of the patches sound like something out of Nexus2? I'd have rather waited until some decent new soundbanks came out to make this upgrade, as I feel what I got was quite pointless. Sorry. It is what it is.

What ReFx is doing is simply a rip-off. These updates should be provided for free to those who have already paid a fortune for an earlier version, not to mention the insanely expensive expansions. By the way, I really love Nexus, but this is just plain robbery... 🤑

This comes up a lot, and it is understood that owners want some loyalty discounts. But, to be fair, it does cost to develop software. The VST synth market is very saturated, so vendors cannot just sell something at very high prices, just to have enough "padding" for future free update giveaways. When they develop something, it costs, and they have to make a living. Nexus 5 is a big step up from its predecessors. You now get a full-fledged synth. This point gets overlooked often in YT videos and comments, because a lot of those just repeat the "Nexus is a ROMpler" phrase that they hard from someone else, but they have not even actually used Nexus 5. You even see comments on there saying "my bad, I did not actually watch this video before commenting on it, it is nice they opened it up like that". There are videos out there already that show people making presets from scratch. If you just buy the basic upgrade, that is still a full synth/sampler workstation with a number of sounds. I m just thinking of other synth/sampler VSTs, and generally, their updates are also more about the functionality, and not so much about a entire library of thousands of brand new sounds. Sure, they have new sounds, but it is never a full revamp. I also think sometimes it is easy to think of digital goods as less tangible, so we expect free upgrades. If I spent so much money on the previous iPads, Apple should give me the latest one for free. But of course they will not, but there are trade-in incentives. With VSTs, you get upgrade discounts as incentive. I am sure the EULAs in most VSTs do NOT say "you are entitled to free upgrades for life". Engineering, coding, developing and sound design require skilled, talented people. They should get paid for their work, just as we pay gadget developers. For first-time Nexus buyers, it is a better deal. People will vote with their wallet.

@@matthewszwandt4124 This is another often repeated point. This is not unique to Nexus. Do you know who is to blame? Us, the consumers. As long as we buy (demand), there will be products (supply). Remember for how many years people wanted Nexus to have synth functions? Now it is here, and these new functions will allow new sound design options. So there will be new packs only compatible with the newer synth features (Avenger also has this, and the new packs for Avenger 2 are really good.). Innovation will not stop. Imagine if people stopped with samplers with only a few megabytes of memory. There would be no massive orchestral libraries or CD quality samples. People want more powerful computers to run more powerful synths, more effects and more tracks. But then Apple creates a new OS, new chip set, so now developers have to catch up and make their products compatible with the new OS and chip set. Apple will not wait, and developers cannot just develop upgrades for free. But often consumers demand that the app vendor provide free upgrades, but they praise Apple for the amazing new technology. People have to decide if they want to complain about "tired old sounds", or "having to upgrade". It appears from all the comments on YT that you cannot possibly please both crowds, because they are polar opposites.

So, I don't like my update to Nexus 5! Why?! The interface is a disaster compared to Nx4, everything is somehow too convoluted. I don't enjoy working with it. That's my honest opinion on this. Damn, I shouldn't have updated!

who told you that you needed to use everything in nexus 5? nexus 5 was made to be able for you to create your own presets, if you want to scroll presets and thats it all you wanna do, just use the retro nexus 2 ui. when you need to change anything, you can go back to the tabs and mute layers, add effects, etc.

Agree, the Tesla-like gray scale UX is bad, the font is almost unreadable at anything under 100%. I can't tell what is clickable, unless I look REALLY closely. They let the GUI guy go wild, with a bad result. The N2 mode is just not helpful, should have left N4 mode (the most prominent button is the N2 button, which should be a user preference not a GUI option). The one press patch selection won't let you scroll with the up-down arrow. There are no skins to let you change the UI color because the contrast is non-existent. The 'like' hearts are grey, so you don't really see that you liked something. The "type' buttons all look like they are greyed out. There is no "ALL" type button even though there is a blank space in the upper left for it. The Dark/Bright/Active/etc color selectors are still useless. There needs to be a find comparable patches like Omnisphere. Just a bad user experience so fat.

@@missepicmandy That is the idea. They even advertise it as new and different. Not sure how people missed that. This is now a sampler and a synth. Not just a preset patch player. People have been complaining for years that they wanted this. If you stick to the browser view, it is as simple as it gets. Or to make it even simpler, just switch to the N2 interface.

I have a question I have the Nexus 4 and now I have the Nexus 5 is it possible I could just drag the Nexus 4 Sound Library into Nexus 5 and be able to control it with Nexus 5 and delete Nexus 4 ?and if so how would I go about doing that?

@@cloud9photography126 If you have Nexus 5, all the sounds from previous versions you have purchased and installed will automatically be available inside Nexus 5. The ReFX cloud app will do the install for you. There's really nothing you need to do other than install from the ReFX cloud app.
