Another great review Rohit! My favorite portion in your reviews is Sound Quality Impressions. With the way you describe how each album sounds, it feels like I have listened to them myself! My P10 arrived about three weeks ago and came mounted with Apheta 3 cartridge. The step up from P8 is indeed significant in terms of clarity and realism, as you pointed out. I’m putting the P8 in a secondary system. Thank you for doing this wonderful review and I will certainly be on the lookout for your P10/ Hana review!

@@analogholic_reviews Hi Rohit! I know you use a test record to adjust the anti-skate. On that particular test record, how is the test done ? Do you listen for distortion and adjust the setting? I have a few test records but they don’t have a track for setting the anti-skate, they are mostly tracking ability tests. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Well done ! Seriously contemplating on either the Planar 8 or 10 with Apheta3. Curious, do you think the Planar 10 is worth the $2300ish premium over Planar 8 ? Also, what phono pre-amp do you use in this video ? Thanks for everything you do !
@analogholic_reviews3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! While the P8 is fantastic, having had both I personally believe the P10 is worth upgrading over P8. The improvements with the same phono, amp, speakers, etc. is not subtle. I use a musical fidelity mxvynl and that is the next upgrade!

@@analogholic_reviews is the P10 somewhat brighter or harsher or less forgiving than the P8? I would really like to know since many of my records are not audiophile grade
@analogholic_reviews3 жыл бұрын
@@topkho I use a Koetsu Black on the P10 and have used several phono stages from a modest MF MXVYNL to the Chord Symphonic. No harshness or brightness. It simply measures the vibration on the vinyl grooves as best as the cartridge allows; so it all depends on cartridge and it has to be set up correctly. What were you thinking of using on the P10? Rega MC or something else?

@@analogholic_reviews right now I have a RP8 with Nagaoka MP-500 (MM). Thinking about upgrading to P8 or P10 but don’t want to lose the warmth, fullness and weight in the sound!
@analogholic_reviews3 жыл бұрын
@@topkho while i haven't listened to the rp8 in action, I could appreciate the difference in stepping up from the P8 to P10. And that was more resolution, weight and body using the same cartridges. The P8 was a bit warmer but less resolving than P10. If there is warmth in the recording, the P10 will convey that and give the partnering cartridge the best possible platform for the money.

Thx for that comparison, as i own the P8/Apheta II combo, and thinking about what my end-game tt would be? The P10 is my goal, but i will wait to get them on the user market, so i can use money on a better cart, when that time comes. Cheers from Denmark
@analogholic_reviews3 жыл бұрын
Yes Thomas. The P8 apheta 2 combo could well be end game for a lot of people. But the P10 is stunningly good and bests the P8 in every way. Upgrade when the time is right. Until then enjoy your beautiful P8 w/ apheta ii !

I had an opportunity to listen to one of these a few weeks back at the local store. A friend was in the market to spend a lot of money on a TT. He ended up spending $25k CAD when all was said and done on a Clearaudio Innovation that I thought sounded worse even though both were supposedly setup optimally in the store...This TT is a goal for sure. While I'll try to be objective, I suspect that Rega has the engineering right. Rega's hale marry Neo and RP 8/10 ? All way under $CAD 70k (the 8 and 10 under 12k) Competitor's top models reach towards half a million dollars and take up half a room once positioned.
@analogholic_reviews2 жыл бұрын
The P10 has solid engineering and appeals to me being in the auto industry. I’ve heard some higher end VPI, Clearaudio performance tables that don’t quite sound as natural and open as the P10.

Hi Just wondered what phonostage you are listening with I have a R8 with Aria was thinking to upgrade to R10 with Aura not sure which cartridge yet Apheta 3 or really go for it and Aphelion 2. Have you heard this set up Cheers Nigel

Hi Nigel. At the time I used a Musical fidelity and Chord Huei. I have heard the P10 with the Aphelion 2 and chord symphonic. It was stunningly good. My friend went from the symphonic to the Aura and tells me that it is a serious sonic upgrade.

Hi sir I have the rega p3 with the PSU and rega phono stage , and I can’t see me going any further up the Chain . Judging by your videos you have moved very swiftly to the top of the rega range. Do you resell your previous decks, and if so do you take a big hit on the resale market? Finally I know a lot of people think the price of these top end performers is a lot of money, but I’m sure you would agree in the world of hifi decks rega give excellent value for money . Especially when you think you can spend upwards of £ 250000 in the pursuit of perfection just on a record deck . Best wishes and kind regards 😀👍👍👍

Hello, thanks for the comments. And yes, Rega offers outstanding value for money in the amplifiers and tables I have experienced. I did trade in my P3 for the upgrade. And while the P10 is stunningly good, the P3 is great in itself. Enjoy your records, until you are ready to upgrade!

Any issue with using the 2mm spacer on the tonearm? Looks rather scary given the ceramic top pate. Currently considering P10 and whether to go with Apheta3 or other brand carts like Audio Technica Art 9XA, Excalibur Platinum (made by HANA & TAD basically), Goldring Ethos, Kiseki Blue. Lacks of VTA is one of my main reservation at the moment. Many thanks for your thoughts.
@analogholic_reviews3 жыл бұрын
No issues with 2mm spacer. Just dont tighten them down too much as that might crack the ceramic. I use a 2mm spacer with the Koetsu. Research the height of cart you choose and compare to height of apheta 3 before deciding on spacer height. Also, there is an adjustable set available from acoustic signature for rega arms that i plan to review soon.
@JohnSmith-il6kk3 жыл бұрын
@@analogholic_reviews Will there be any wobble on the tonearm if not tighten too much? Definitely looking forward to your Acoustic Signature spacer sets review!👍
@analogholic_reviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, no issues with wobble whatsoever. I just had the screws snug and not overtight so as to not damage the tancast or the ceramic. And yes, will work on acquiring the spacer set.

Most welcome John. By changing rca to xlr by just using adapters won’t bring the advantages of balanced connection. Only compatibility of connections if that’s your goal. There are units that convert unbalanced to balanced like this ART (www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CleanBoxPro--art-cleanboxpro-2-channel-balanced-unbalanced-level-converter?mrkgadid=3308752906&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=livesound&lighting&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046938524764&lid=92700046938524764&ds_s_kwgid=58700005283381358&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=442508440280&product_id=CleanBoxPro&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&device=m&network=g&matchtype=&adpos=largenumber&locationid=9016905&creative=290335234205&targetid=pla-442508440280&campaignid=1465475237&awsearchcpc=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw2ZaGBhBoEiwA8pfP_k1vg0l-h8iGsX4Lx_JUcgv8j556hUjfQtYwDA2xiaOw27ies8CwSxoCJrwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)
