I'm slowly back to climbing and seeing progress on my knee. I can't climb as hard and do certain moves like aggressive heel hooks, toe hooks, drop knees. Just need to be patient and do my best to heal up, but once I'm feeling a lot better I'll be back outdoors on my projects.

Man.. not climbing for a couple of weeks is so hard! I feel fortunate enough that it's not as serious and just need to take it slow. I'm doing rehab exercises every day and making progress, hope to be back on my outdoor projects soon. Wishing you a lovely day and good sends!

Same boat! No where near as experienced but 2 weeks ago, about 1.5months into climbing for me, I sprained what is likely my TFCC in my wrist. Went from looking for every opportunity to hit the gym to reluctantly sitting at home. Aiming for my first return after this holiday weekend!

I had 1 year off, was climbing 7a back then! i had a virus attacking my nerves, now I can’t straighten my fingers and have very low strength in my right arm. Used to play the guitar for 10 years, which is impossible right now. It felt so frustrating to get back to climbing on lowest grades, but now I am loving it again, though I am struggling on 6a boulders. Never give up, no matter how hard u climb. The journey is always worth it! The Doctors said I will get stronger, but I won’t get back to where I was. Let‘s prove them wrong :)

I just twisted my knee last week and man has it been hard to accept. This video is definitely inspiring. Would be lovely if you did something about how you handled your rehab and if there are any climbing specific exercises you’ve been trying. All warmth.

I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago too and I am climbing two grades below my project grade. I can resonate with you about the mental aspect of going back to climbing after injury. Climbing with my ankle still feeling pain makes me even more scared of falling from the slabs. Glad to be back to climbing and taking baby steps like you!

As someone that's been dealing with knee pain from a previous sporting injury from when I was younger, I'm wishing you a speedy recovery! Heel hooks with my left knee will always be a bit limiting for me, but like you've said, at least I'm still able to climb.

I just sprained my MCL about a month ago, close to healed now so I’m about to start climbing again. It totally sucked to be out for so long and I’m really worried about getting out again. Thanks for this video, made me feel a lot less nervous!

I hope you have recovered in the meantime. I am also dealing with a climbing injury at the moment (elbow). On the one hand: it really sucks. On the other hand: I really focus on my technique right now, trying to always climb with straight arms and putting as much weight as possible on the legs. So hopefully in the end I emerge as a better climber.

I can tell you with confidence, baby that knee as long as you can stand it, or longer. At almost 54, all my old injuries that I have not rehabbed correctly are protesting and keeping me from getting me to 5.11/5.12. I can only do maybe 45 minutes, tops, a day before it start getting twinge-y. My heart attack put things in perspective years ago… Always plan ahead for the long run, and you’ll be much happier.

I fractured my tailbone in April when I fell off the wall, and it took a month for me to heal. The fall was my fault but this has not deterred me from climbing. Although I haven't been climbing as much as I did before I intend to get back into it. This incident taught me patience and to know what my body is capable of and to keep strengthening it. I know how hard it is to get back into the gym after an injury, I still have those nerves when I get back on the wall but I did learn from my mistake and I am still determined to enjoy this sport.

damn, that knee injury is one of the accidents I'm afraid of. I'm good at heel hooking and getting the knee/hips as close to the wall as possible. I always feel how much pressure the knee is under during such moves. scary!

What was your knee injury? I lightly sprained my MCL on a fall from a climb and it took about two weeks of rest to feel ready to climb again. Still feeling some soreness when bending my knee but it's much better now.

Always inspiring. 🤩The truth of mental training only happens out of fear - of injury, height, any self made doubt, etc. Stinks on your knee injury, but your mental strength will drive your resilience to resolve of improved purpose. Beyond current rehab exercises, are there any other knee strength building exercises you’re doing to prevent recurrence? sometimes the knee or any injury could be result of other muscles, tendons, ligaments above and below the knee/area?
@rockentry
@rockentry Жыл бұрын
Working on my hip mobility and flexibility. If my hips can't turn inward then most of the twist happens on the knee and thats not good, for instance when you do the drop knee when you twist in if you're lacking him mobility then your knee takes a hit. But, you're right an injury could be a result of other areas we're lacking and need to improve or strengthen.

Injuries suck! I think especially the little tweaky ones. It feels like they could be avoidable, and that they shouldn't shut us down so much for something so minor. At least with big ones like broken bones, etc. its a little more obvious! Hang in there, you got this! Mental game = strong!

When you say 'took a couple of weeks off' did you fully stop all activity using your leg? Were you trying any active rehab in this time or did you try things like 1 leg climbing or campus training?
@rockentry

First couple of days I just rested I couldn’t do much to it because it would hurt. Then I started doing rehabilitation exercises once I was able to move more without pain. I didn’t feel safe climbing and didn’t want to risk it. Now I’m able to climb but can’t put too much pressure when heel hooking or toe. slowly getting better tho!

Oof I heckin feel you. I sprained my wrist a couple weeks ago. I took a full week and a half off, have been climbing one armed for a week, and only now feel good enough to slowly start climbing on it again. I'm definitely staying away from big dynos and project level climbs for a bit though 🥲. Sucks
