Got to love these terrible X13's...notorious for having the ECM boards fail on them! And the best part is the ECM is damn near impossible to get, and if you can find a supplier, it costs almost as much as a whole new motor. Absolute trash.

As a tech, I can tell you that we do not have all the wiring and schematic information we need while in the field. Do you actually expect us to carry around binders full of information?

james allen no but as a tech you should know how to find via the good old inter web or making a phone call to be able to find your spec wiring diagram. Seems how good ol big gov is requiring all motors after 2020 to be ecm ya better get used to it. I usually have great luck with manualslib.com but sometimes need to call manufacturers to get an email. And yes a good tech does have binders of this information it’s on my phone or tablet. It truly makes a huge difference in my call times

I'm confused why you are sticking one lead on your low voltage plug and the other one to your high voltage neutral. Why wouldn't you put one lead on the low voltage plug and the other on the common terminal on the high voltage plug when you are checking for the voltage?

I have an AC blower (Carrier) motor defective. The motor is Genteq ,230V with model number 5SME39HX L184. Its lower voltage two signal wires ( white goes to speed 4 slot and blue goes to speed 2 slot. The other 4 wires ( Green& yellow for ground, yellow goes to transformer 230V side, black goes to transformer 230V side, and Brown for connects the blue wire from the Thermostat). I bought a new Genteq with model 5SME39HX L447. The wire connection is total different. I need your advice. Thank you!

On the PSC motors, the circuit breaker amp rating is sized to 175% to 225% of the FLA. Seems like the ECM's electronic control can soft-start the motor and limit the inrush current. Is this oversizing of the circuit breaker necessary on an ECM motor?

On my X13 ECM the motor "rocks" back and forth in a small arc for up to four minutes before running. At first I though this was a problem but according to the Genteq ECM Service Guide this is normal. I wish I knew why.

The system I'm working on, after 10 minutes or more it will still do the same. However I still wish I knew this when troubleshooting. Thanks 👍

They're lying. It's not normal to do it for several minutes, the ECM board is bad. It may do it for a split second or so at startup, but shouldn't stay there. If you replace the motor/ECM it will stop doing it.

Could a failed logic board cause the X13 to run continuously without a call for fan?

Derek Bell yes, I have experienced that on a call.

That’s exactly what my home fan is doing. It is running without being put into fan only. The unit is set to off and my fan control board is good. I had to turn the breaker off just to shut it off. It came on by itself.

YES!!! That's what's happening in my home right now. FYI, I'm an EPA Cert. HVAC tech so I'm not just some dumb homeowner.

My blower motor, x13, was not running. the technician installed new control module. Now it runs but does not stop.it keeps on running whether thermostat is set on "auto', "on", or "off". How to fix it? The technician says you need to replace the blower.

I have an issues with x13 it does its cycle but repeatedly turns on for 1,to 2seconds the off multiply times any info icm and motor have been replaced still same issues

Here you say we have to get an OEM motor. In another video, I see how to use an evergreen EM to use as a replacement for this. Is this a good choice?

They're made in the same factory in Mexico. Evergreen is just painted green and sold for other brands (I think GE uses them), while Genteq is Carrier.

My x-13 blower motor ( 230V ) is powered directly without going through the control board. The blower is blowing, but extremely slowly. My system is factory set at Tap 2 low speed. I never had a problem before. There is power at the source and I checked the relay. Everything seems okay. Could you tell me if there is a simple solution before I have to tear it down? All duct work and vents are clear and filter clean. Compressor operates & I see no safety switches. Thought it may need an auxiliary or hard start capacitor. Blades turn by hand too.

@@Chigasaurus It was a bad ECM ( Electronic Control module ) on the blower motor. Apparently they go bad quite often. Bast to just replace the whole motor.,not much price difference

As of recent, when the thermostat calls for heat the fan doesn't turn on but the thermostat says it on. If I manually switch the fan to "on" from "automatic" the fan runs... I've changed the circuit board, transformer and thermostat but have the same result..

Is the board sending power to the blower heating terminals with call for heat?

Yup, lots of bad X13's. Life expectancy is 5-10 years at best.

That's what mine is currently doing. Sometimes keeps running after the call for AC is done and outside condenser is off, sometimes it works right and shuts off after 45 seconds, sometimes it comes right back on and runs for any weird amount of time, and sometimes I finally have to turn the breaker off. At least now there are alternatives to replacing this whole overpriced motor. You can do just an ECM or buy a Mars or Evergreen complete motor and it learn. Crazy.

You got your diagram wrong while checking your low voltage or speed tap voltage. He says check common but diagram shows checking Neutral.

I saw the same thing. Why use neutral as a commun for 24 volts. There is another pin that is commun.

Want to try something really cool if the motor ohms out bad? Look in there and find where the winding wires are wrapped around each other. Un wind them and if the motor was testing bad it isn't any more. Bad design!

so genteq you can push that meter leads into that socket? aren't u gonna enlarge them and they gonna be loose when connect back to the other plug? so disappoint with this presentation. showing the circuit with out pointing it out is useless. why are you scare to open up the motor to position it with your presentation but just talk? try do better job genteq
