Apart from the powerful fastidiousness of this client, I’ve been surprised just how precise a lot of Dan’s clients are about their hair and looks in general. Lol at the barbers in the comments being annoyed that someone comes to them for a service and asks for something particular. I'm confused, isn't that why we pay you for a cut? Otherwise wouldn't we just buzz a 0 all over at home? If a customer being fussy rubs you the wrong way, you're probably in the wrong profession. Take notes on how this guy handles his fussy customer, polite and not so fast to knock him down, he has an idea and he might not be educated enough to explain it but he still knows what he wants, and in the end actually received exactly what he wanted BECAUSE he was fussy. The "too fussy for me" comments are just one example of why you're probably struggling to keep regular punters and highly likely doing "mid fades with short on top" all day long.

@susanlong7779 go to a good barber if you have such short hair. In a women's salon you pay a lot for atmosphere. You also pay rent. If the salon is in a shopping mall, you will normally pay more than for a cut at a salon situated in a side street.

I liked the authenticity of their interaction, most of us know Dan is brilliant at what he does, he'll find a nice middle between giving the clients what they want and his expert advice. A particularly "fussy" client just adds to the fun, not having some robot just sitting there putting on an act to please everyone, except himself, it is his hair (and money) after all. Another job well done 👍
@RegalGentleman2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. That’s the point of these videos to show a wide variety of people and interactions. Ariel travelled all the way from the US to UK for this so it’s normal to want to make it the best. We appreciated him being “fussy” as it made for a great video. The most important thing to us is he may have been “fussy” but he was never rude and always polite. Nothing wrong with that for us. Whether you’re quiet, loud, fussy, don’t care. As long as you’re polite and kind that’ll do for us. Obviously it’s important that we have our own timings and are in control of that so we can take as long as we want, but it was a pleasure to have Ariel in! Would be fun to have him come back in and see how it’s developed! ❤️
@beingashope2 жыл бұрын
I think he’s good at explaining what he wants and doesn’t want but also is contradicting himself. If you did exactly what he said, he wouldn’t have liked what you did. I’m glad you were showing him and going through each section asking what he wanted and if it would be cohesive or even possible with his other preferences. I had a picky mom come in with her adult son and I started with a low fade, then to a medium, and then to a high fade. It was really time consuming and took a lot of patience but she loved her son’s hair at the end. I didn’t really appreciate her comment about how my medium fade dipped in the back looked “weird” but her son said “you are a genius for doing that, it compliments the head shape so well!” He said he never had a haircut like that before. They left happy but I am thankful that not every client is like that. I love a good challenge every once in awhile but sometimes there’s that client that will not like anything that you do and I truly believe it’s a confidence issue or something deeper going on that has nothing to do with us.

I'm hoping one day i can get to sit in the Regal Gentleman chair and experience this myself. I've always held on to my long hair, however i'd be willing to let get of it seeing how knowledgeable Dan really is and how much he cares about the end result and the fact you leave happy with your new haircut.

Man Dan keeps giving out gems. Less than a week ago I had a “fussy” client, but like dan says. We love it, it’s a challenge and a chance to create with scissors. The results were basically the same, graduate the side, connect the top into the side. A little disconnection with the fringe. Taper the back and boom jobs a good one. Great work as always and teaching 💯 p.s Iv got two clients that started off like this but they showed me a picture of an animated Japanese character. Is this a thing else where?

Rules of Getting Haircut: (1) Bring picture of how you want hair cut (2) Tell barber to make it look good _Why? Because you can never see no matter how many mirrors and angles you get, how the world ACTUALLY sees your haircut. That is what people don't understand._

Ha, I was wondering if Dan read minds cuz the clients request was incomprehensible- then they 'cut scene' to where Dans saying I dont know what you want 🙂😉🙂🙃 OK, I think the poor guys been traumatized by previous bad haircuts, and hes flown over from NY for this-- talk about pressure! It was so cute how happy he was with the end result. Great job Dan.

Get so many customers like this that want contradicting things and just say stuff the have herd online and sounds ‘cool’ I learnt very quickly that the customer isn’t always right! I always say to my customers pictures are the best starting point as we both start with the same image and then can talk from there about what is actually possible with their hair and managing their expectations.

The amount he's spent explaining is hair is a full appointment in most shops. I'd give him 4 back and sides and send him back to America 😂

Spending the time and caring what the client wants equals a satisfied one. Those people want to come back again and again. Too many stylists think like you do and that is why clients switch shops again and again. Dan does it right.
@jon_tran13510 ай бұрын
@kellydesilva6733 very few barbers have the time dan does to do a haircut. Plus he charges about £80 ($160USD) for a haircut which someone like you who appreciates the talent will not pay.

If your client pays $100 per cut, as a male that cuts 4-6 weeks interval, it better be what I want 😤

I’m a teacher so can empathise. Dealing with teenagers and their parents can drive you insane too. I think any public facing role is really tough. 😂

Ariel was polite the whole way. Was a pleasure having him in the chair. It took a while, and being fussy is fine as we have the time, and we got there in the end. Always fun to have challenges!
