It is a harsh critique of America, they literally sing "this is not a love song". This is also the most important part in the video, imo, where the white guys dress as natives and just see it as a joke while the real natives just watch them sad. America is destroying other cultures. The fake moon landing is a reference to the superficial nature of the American culture. The lyrics are mainly about how America is leading us in a dance and who doesn't want to dance will be forced. But don't worry Rammstein is known for being very direct and not holding back. Their song "Deutschland" about my and their home country is extremely critical, direct and brutal (and also a masterpiece, you should react to it).
@oldguyreactions2 жыл бұрын
@Jakob Bräuer I believe I mentioned that in the video to the guest. It is not a love song. It is sarcasm in protest of the US and its influence over the world. The interesting thing is that the US is full of all races and cultures from all the countries of the world. The freedom the US has promotes entrepreneurship and innovation which influences the world as this video shows. The only way to stop it is to stop allowing people to have their freedom and the influence across the world will stop very quickly. I am afraid that the time will come at some point. Unfortunately, the people of the US are spoiled in that freedom and get too cocky and are not humble about it. That will be their downfall. The collapse will happen first from within, then their freedom will be taken. It sounds negative, but it is a reality that has happened in all countries at one time in history. The US has not experienced that fall yet. But they will....It will not be pretty and it will affect the entire world. Great song though....It was fun and hopefully awakens some Americans as to how the world sees them. I reacted to Deutschland and have been disputing the copyright block. Hopefully, I will get that one up.

Hello, I'm an American and wanted to ask a German person about so much stuff that is lost in translation in the song and music video "Deutschland" - Is there a significance of the red lasers through the song, like in the beginning where it's the battle in the forest against the romans? I thought I had read that it was like a German thing about red thread, or red hair, or something... and that Nietzsche word "ubermench"... there was just so much that was way over my head... such a cool video though

That scene where a Muslim man bow down doing his prayer towards the Oil plant says it all. Muslims bow down to the direction of their holy city of Meccah, but that was switched into that oil plant. I guess that scene was referring to the US invasion of Iraq and overthrowing Saddam Hussein. We all know how that worked out for the Iraqi people, afterwards. There's no doubt that it's a commentary about the influence of the US across the world, the food, Nike trainers, cigarettes, cheerleading, the almost bombastic way of singing as well. It's a critique of the idealised version of the US that's put out. Compare and combine Amerika with RAtM's Sleep Now In the Fire with their emphasis on the problems experienced in the US and you get something closer to reality. This is not a love song, I don't sing my mother tongue is a reference to the fact that Americans don't speak the mother tongue of America. Many languages are spoken but not the original language. Coca Cola sometimes war is obviously the US bringing nice and nasty things to the world, but there's also a slight dig there as the US has been fighting against others for over 250 years now. Finally, there's the nod to the conspiracy theories about the Moon landings. Nice reaction guys and nice to see that you weren't offended by the song.

The song is a reaction of the changing America after 9/11. Rammstein noticed that America changed its spirit. But this was achieved not always in a fair way. „Coca Cola, sometimes war“. So yes, it is a sarcastic song. But that is Rammstein. Watch the next time Deutschland from Rammstein. They have 3 songs about 3 different countries. Amerika, moskau, and duetschland. All three of these songs are both pointing out the major flaws and negative histories/influences/impacts in the history of the world. They also in these songs (more in moskau and duetschland) show some respect and positive acknowledgement of how far they've come but still maintaining that they all have a lot to still do to reverse their courses of the negative aspects they've had throughout their histories. Respect plus pointing out the clear negatives. Basically not being so nationalistic about these countries that you can acknowledge their major flaws and failures and horrors that they've caused in the past. First step In becoming better is to acknowledge your failures and try to actively do what you can to make sure those mistakes aren't made again. Like how an addict needs to admit their an addict before they can start to recover.
